Political Punch:

Responding to criticism from former Vice President Cheney that President Obama is making the nation more vulnerable to terrorism, the president's National Security Adviser, Gen. Jim Jones (Ret.), told ABC News in an exclusive interview that actually the reverse is true: President Obama's greater success with international relations has meant more terrorists put out of commission.

Wait --- You mean that not bullying nations, bad mouthing muslims, or using Allies against their beliefs can result in better international relations??

Wow - Who'd of thought it.

On the other hand, the fact that he's not bullying nations, bad-mouthing Muslims, or using our allies' efforts against their beliefs, isn't what most of us would call "attacking" the problem.

THAT'S the prism FAUX "News" will hold up to it -- that he's not serious because he's not invading another country. I can hear it now: "How can he say we're SAFER, when he's not killing terrorists and at least ACTING like a courageous American???" Because, you see, their idea of being tough -- the concept their audience holds and they encourage -- is that of ACTING tough, to cow the opposition. To "shock and awe" them. Acting tough, in their concept, doesn't include just getting the results, just accomplishing the goals.

Funny thing, NOW the Repugs are starting to say we shouldn't be in Afghanistan. Seems they think the local insurgents only want that country, not ours, so why shouldn't we just let them have it?

So I'm left to wonder: where did all that old rhetoric of theirs go, about the principles of democracy being threatened, and all? Do all those high flown words just fly out the window, when there's no oil in a country?

Me personally, I think he is doing a much better job regarding foriegn affairs than domestic. During the campaign some thought this would be the other way around.

And the reasons to believe this Obama crony are any better than the reasons to believe a Bush crony? Unless of course someone presents verifiable evidence to support their claims.

The United States, he said, isn’t “known as a country that tortures people.”

Maybe he should read this--or maybe he already knows: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/02/25/080225fa_fact_kramer

You know, I was a bit confused as to why the violence in Afghanistan is the worst it has ever been. Thank you Jim Jones for clearing everything up.

Look, the only people who are listening to Cheney today are his closest confidantes at the American Enterprise Institute, astroturfed Townhall visigoths, and his dreadful daughters.

The press is playing up this Cheney v. Obama tale because its the summer, Congress is out on recess, and Paris Hilton hasn't been up to any shenanigans lately.

Come mid-September, Cheney will be ignored for the deluded, lying buffoon he is.

President Obama doesn't have a history of canning anyone who dissents against him, as opposed to the charlatan that preceded him who got rid of everyone who didn't jump when he or his sidekick said Boo.

And the general doesn't need the job. He has a very fine pension and could be making much more in the private sector.

So much is being made about Obamas approval ratings, Obama just needs to pass strong H/c bill with a strong Public Option watch the rating go high. And after he catches or k i l l O$ama and end the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, which he will eventually he'll be all set.

By Terrorists, do they mean the American PEOPLE who can not and will not be able to afford health care??? or do they mean the people who want JUSTICE for the crimes American politicians committed???

By Terrorist they certainly don't mean "a person, usually a member of a group, who uses or advocates terrorism" or "a person who terrorizes or frightens others" because we STILL have plenty of those here in America... In fact, the number has soared in the last month!!!

Never, ever forget that the 9/11 attacks happened on the Bush/Cheney watch. Bush and Cheney were warned nine months prior to the 9/11 attacks that such attacks were being planned. Bush and Cheney chose to ignore those warnings.

Nine months? Bush and Cheney weren't in office nine months before 9/11.

So? You guys have been blaming Obama since day two for not solving the economy with no tools immediately.

Bush and friends had more than enough time to look at the intel and see what was a potential. But instead they were too busy trying to dismantle everything they didn't like, and then reality came knocking.

It was very much on their watch.

What a stupid statement. We are still feeling the effects of the Bush's administration this early in Obama's term. Funny how they blame Bush for the economy but now take credit for security.
Let's wait until 2 years into Obama's term before praising this administration's efforts. But with Russia, China, NK and Iran snubbing their noses at us, it's hard to fathom. The way we treat our Allies and reward our enemies?
The only thing I would add is that Obama did inherit a quagmire in Afghanistan as Bush did not pay any attention to it.
I'm all for trying a new course with Obama, as I voted for him but to take credit so soon is ridiculous and we know the Administration is using this and the CIA probe to misdirect us from the real problem in the USA, the economy.
