so i guess our tax money will be helping fund blackwater defense in court
Blackwater employees are terrorists . They pillage , rape and kill civilians and they owe allegence to no government.
Why don't we just employ the Somali pirates?
Have you heard about the upcoming National skip day at schools across the country on 8 September.
Do you know why this is happening?
okay, i really like president obama, i worked very hard to help get him elected; but this really pisses me off! pull every troop out of both iraq and afghanistan, put them on ships if you want; but don't give another cent of mine or any other americans tax dollars to blackwater!!!
It was already said, but let me say it again:
"Sources say the department has agreed to temporarily continue using the subsidiary known as Presidential Airways to provide helicopter transport for embassy employees around Iraq until a new contract with another security company, Dyncorp International, is fully implemented."
So Blackwater/Xe is on the way OUT and Dyncorp is set to replace them. Although I would prefer that we didn't use contractors at all.
okay, ms. yliza, i hope you are right!
Why not use contractors that are there because they want to be there. If you don't use contractors you will have to use the military and that means more serving longer tours there.
They could also hire Iraqis for much of the work that contractors do. No, not security, but construction jobs and such. And yes, our military is awfully stretched right now and our troops are exhausted, but how many of them wouldn't mind doing helicopter duty for a while instead of acting as a police force?
Da** !!
President Obama is No President Of Change or HOPE !
He is just hanging onto Bush coat tail philosophies !!
I am beginning to believe I wasted my time volunteering for Urgency, Hope and Change from Obama !!
I'm not seeing alot off Obama bashing in these comments on a topic (Blackwater) that has been a Bush hater favorite.
Could it be that if libs start bashing Obama, then they'll be called racists?
a lot
That was been strategy #1 to win the election in the first place.
Military/industrial/congressional/white house complex at work. Other than Jeremy Scahill (Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Poweful Mercenary Army) trying to highlight on HBO (Bill Maher) and MSNBC (Keith Olbermann) the atrocities committed by Blackwater in Iraq, etc., there has be very little done by the MSM to really expose them. Email the White House and State Department and protest.
Jeez, read the article. The airlift portion of the contract was extended to overlap w/ the new contractor (Dyncorp). The personal security detail portion of the contract was already terminated. No news here.
Thank you for pointing that out. Headlines here are often like irrational promotions for bad TV shows. Favorited and fanned for your watchful service.
You're right cdiasmd, I went back and reread the article. Its not as bad as the headline implies...thank God.
And how many of these guys and gals from XE will be working for the new contractor? I have a friend working with XE and he will be moving to the new company as are many others.
I voted for change, not this bullcrap that's going around now. We don't need no stinking Blackwater!
I want to know why American diplomats are protected by mercenaries rather than by US troops in war zones. The record of Blackwater's crimes in the service of the US and the lack of any accountability for those crimes are appalling. Renewing its contract is unacceptable. The continuation of the Bush administration's policy of hiring these blackguards is a blot on the new administration's record.
Because Blackwater has it’s talons hooked in us, do to a lack of people willing to sign up for the low paying military. The war can not be won without them. Like the Roman Empire our mercenaries have us by the balls.
Your going to get change but when it happens you will not like it, unless you like government controling your life.
"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong
enough to take everything you have." Thomas Jefferson
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
