Cheating

DivineCaroline:

Addiction is the inability to discontinue reckless or harmful behavior. Addicts can't stop themselves from self-destructing, whatever their choice of poison may be. We don't fully understand addiction yet, but we do know that there are genetic components, as well as social factors, that can contribute to addiction.

It depends. Is it compulsive? Is it a method of distracting oneself from an otherwise less than satisfying and meaningful existence? Is it the product of a larger process?

No. Next question.

I remember growing up around my grand parents, they were married 50+ years. Those who cheated on their spouses, those who slept around were not even discussed in mix company. Soap operas were about as juicy as it got in grandma's house. Why? It was not socially acceptable. If a woman cheated on her husband or a man cheated on his wife then their peers their family would be disappointed. They had violated such a sacred trust. Today, with divorce rates over 50%, our entertainment reflecting the moral conscience, people are not as reluctant to have affairs let alone divorce. Society and our peers have such an influence on what we do in our personal lives, until we reestablish the sanctity of marriage and the value of relationships I see no change.
