Protester Holds Up Copy Of "U.S.S Constitution" To Prove That Congress Can't Regulate Health Care (VIDEO)

Think Progress catches an amusing moment at a seemingly virulent protest against health care reform. At one point, a protester brandishes a copy of what he calls the "U.S.S. Constitution" in order to prove the false idea that the federal government doesn't have the right to regulate health care.

Protester: Right here. I got a book here called the U.S.S. Constitution. I'm sure everybody's seen this before. And you know what? I've read this book three times now, and I've referenced it dozens of times and I can't find one little paragraph in here that says the government has the right to take over our health care.

If you people had read anything you would knowthat you don"t know. I was on BCBS when I went out of state and had a Heart Attack. I had to have open heart surgery. When I get back home I received a notice from BCBS that I was out of network and they could only pay a very small limited amount. Now I am on Medicare Socilized medicine and I will be covered in case I want to travel somewhere. If you people think that you and your doctor chooses what procedures can be done you are in lala land.

This video is less funny than it is depressing. I am a Danish citizen and I live in a country with universal health care and with private options should I want them. It is free for Danish citizens to go to our doctor, to go to the hospital and receive treatment.

We also have free education here in Denmark. University students even receive a free government grant of about $1000 a month every month for FIVE years. The Human Development Index seems to indicate that the average Dane is smarter and healthier than the average American. We have a GDP (PPP) of $37000 which is lower than the US but our economy has the highest equality in the world.

This video sadly displays the stupidity that prevails among large segment of the population. And what is up with those completely unfounded Nazi references?!

You know you say free but please explain your tax system? All the taxes, your vat, your income taxes and what ever else is taxed. Special alchol taxes like Norway? You say free medical care so you don't pay a basic premium? What about the needed medicine?
Also with coming possible pull out of NATO of US or at least in it's dominate role, how will that effect your country. When your country has to step up and make up the difference of what the USA has been paying for your defense all these years.

That is a point. Not a good one, but a point. Maybe the US should pull back, insulate itself from the world and watch as the economy crumbles. (Were that to happen maybe there would be less need for world defense?) If you want to be honest about the US military commitment to the world, it is about being the big kid on the block. I don't necessarily have a problem with this. But don't complain about a structure put in place primarily by the US and then complain that countries live within the structure. The US constantly demands that NATO countries put more money into defense. Preferably into areas of defense that the US chooses and with companies of the US defense industry.
