US Embassy Guards Gone Wild In Kabul: Prostitution, Brawls, And Vodka Butt Shots

Camp Sullivan

Mother Jones:

Drunken brawls, prostitutes, hazing and humiliation, taking vodka shots out of buttcracks-- no, the perpetrators of these Animal House-like antics aren't some depraved frat brothers. They are the private security contractors guarding Camp Sullivan, otherwise known as the US Embassy in Kabul.

These allegations, and many more, are contained in a letter sent to Secretary of State of Hillary Clinton on Tuesday by the Project on Government Oversight, which has been investigating the embassy security contract held by ArmorGroup North America (a subsidiary of Wackenhut, which is in turn owned by the security behemoth G4S).

This is such an embarrassment. Why can't just ISAF guard the embassies? We need to stop doing business with PMCs aka mercenaries.

Pretty much ALL of these "civilian contractors" are backwoods kra-kers that have neved traveled more than 40 miles from the whoop or holler they were born in. The got the job through rac~ist associations and exclusionary hiring practices that merited how loyal a Bushie they were, and once shipped off to Iraq, were given the go-ahead BY HIGH LEVEL SUPERIORS to rape, murder, and kill with impunity, fired up of course by the lovely meth and heroin provided for them.

Just another episode of "Kra~kers Behaving Badly" broght to you by the Bush/Cheney Torture Network.

But the Depatment of State reviewed the contract in June and got renewal through 2010. This may have started as a Rice or Powell issue, but has now been continued on Hilary Clinton's watch. How much due diligence went into the review of the contract? Surely these reports and photos were known to some in the State Department. Can this type of behavior by contractors meant to provide SECURITY for diplomats in a warzone go undetected by State Department officials charged with administering the contract, oversight on contracting, assuring security for personnel?

Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate was up on the soap box about ending this type of outsourced security. What happened to her zeal when she took the reigns of authoirty at the Department of State? While she may not control the contracting process, she certainly could have insisted on closer scrutiny of contractors, it she has any authority at all. oops

The administration should move quickly to assure someone with amdinistrative and managment leadership is in place at the Department of State so the Department, its security and the nation do not suffer from the vacuum of leadership with Hillary and her political cronies in appointed roles.

Imagine the amount of money these firms pay to lobby in Congress.

'Afghanistan Contractors Outnumber Troops'

"Contractors outnumber troops in Iraq - The figure, higher than reported earlier, doesn't include security firms. Critics say the issue is accountability."

Good article. I'm glad to read some of the contractors are standing up against this abusive juvenile behavior. They should kick all these thugs out and let them go start a frat house at a party college where they are free to be losers all they want.

Pathetic pieces of sh|t. Just like this article details, do people seriously not realize that security is a serious job, yet there are FAR more MORONS trying to get the job than there are intelligent people? Go look at the typical American who owns a gun. They are yahoos, uneducated, tough guy rejects. These are the people who try to get jobs "pulling a trigger", because they think it's "fun". And apparently they've already infected the system because otherwise, how would they get hired? Stupid people hire other stupid people.

When you hire these idiots, you cause great distress among the few intelligent members of the security community who want to do the job for the right reasons. What intelligent person would want to work around these idiots? And it's not just security contractors. It's our (USA) entire law enforcement community; filled up with TOO MANY uneducated jerks who are running off of primitive instincts (dominant male "I want to fight fight fight" attitudes).

Simple fact is, once a system is infected with incompetents, especially at higher levels, the only way to fix it is outside intervention; mass firings, executions, or something. Because they certainly aren't going to step down on their own.

These are mainly uneducated kra-kers who've never been out of the whoop or holler they were born in. They got the civillian contracting job through rac-ist associations and exclusionary hiring practices that based merit on how loyal a conservative you are.

Once in Iraq, they are given the go-ahead BY SUPERIORS I might add, to rape, kill, drink, abuse, and generally behave badly with the Iraqi population. And they are paid handsomely for their debauchery.

Let's not confuse the parties they throw on off-hours with professional misconduct. To the extent that there are institutional and political problems, raunchy vodka shots on your own time are nothing more than personal.

Without seeing the video, I have a hard time judging whether the participants are truly enjoying themselves or just phoning it in as they gobble potato chips and vodka shots from each other's butt cheeks. For instance, are the cheeks toned and taught or flat and flabby? Half the outrage is dispelled if people are truly enjoying themselves, and then all we've got to worry about is the well-being of the non-participatory sort, who really shouldn't be made to feel unwanted in the work place just because they're no fun.

Lets examine what these murderers do on duty. While they rape, murder, and rob us blind.

As of June 2009, there were 250,000 armed contractors (mercenaries) in Iraq and Afghanistan: from a new Pentagon report.

this number has actually increased. They are also paid many times the amount of the average joe. This number is expected to rise by over 25% this year.

Thes are well-paid civilians with easy duty, not front-line soldiers facing death daily. There is no excuse for this despicable, depraved behavior.
05:46 AM on 09/04/2009
while they are certainly not frontline soldiers, providing secutiry in a warzone is not "easy duty." The prospect of a terrorist attack in Kabul, particularly moving around the city, is a constant danger.
05:47 AM on 09/04/2009
btw, are you saying that this type of behavior would be justified if they were front-line soldiers facing death every day? Would that be wise behavior for people who must be super alert every second?

If we start paying the enlisted soldiers a decent wage.....taken directly from all these "hired contractors" the government thinks we need, this garbage would stop, IMHO.

The thought that we hire security outside the government is ludicrous. The only thing that can possibly come of it is more of these schennanigans.

We have Blackwater....oops Xe....killing people and on their own Evangelical Christian Crusades making this country look like cr. ap. Now, this group...and maybe it's a Blackwater group....acting like frat boys.

Grow up!! It's time for the adults to hand out the punishment....Sec. Clinton, get your hands dirty on this one.

The whole "war on terror" has been one huge clusterfook right from the beginning. From Bremmer demantling the Iraqi army, to the poor anticipation of the looting, to the shame of Abu Ghraib, GITMO, torture, ignoring of OBL, etc etc. Why should we act surprised that this sort of contractor tomfoolery is going on?? It is to be EXPECTED. Unless Obama has time to get it fixed expect more, just remember whose fault it is.

YET ANOTHER reason to liquidate the assets of Blackwater, Halliburton, KBR and their subsidaries, and put the assets towards relieving the national deficit, and to healthcare for all Americans.

And paying reparations--or at least repairing the infrastructure and getting services turned back on--in Iraq and Aghanistan. Other high-priced US private contractors are providing shoddy services, like building an Iraqi police training academy, where the toilets leak through the floor to the rooms below.

Twenty billion has been flushed down those leaky toilets already with not a clue as to what it was spent on.

I'm done with the disenginuousness of this issue. Reparations for Iraq? Great.

Reparations for slavery? Not so much.
