Over the past 30 years, plasma furnaces have demonstrated solutions for clean coal, for safely disposing of medical waste, and for generating clean energy from municipal garbage dumps. The first full-scale plasma furnace retrofit for an existing coal plant is currently underway in Massachusetts.
President Obama should use TARP authority to provide government loan guarantees for banks to lend $15 Billion per year for wind farm deployment. Wind farms are cost competitive over time with coal, natural gas, nuclear, and petroleum for electricity generation. For an investment of $300
Billion over the next 20 years, wind farms could provide enough electricity for every American households. Wind provides a comparatively low-risk, steady, return on investment. And, building these wind farms would create 1.5 million jobs.
