Today, the Republican National Committee released a new ad in support of its so-called "Seniors' Bill of Right." The ad features RNC Chairman Michael Steele repeating many of the same falsehoods he propagated in his Washington Post column last week, when the RNC first rolled out the "Seniors' Bill of Rights." As one might expect, Steele's claims are equally disingenuous one week later.

The only reason these viral emails have any traction is because our television news media is too lazy, too corrupt, or too incompetent to deliver useful information to its viewers.

THAT'S the whole problem. A few years ago, Republicans would not have been able to get away with all the lies they're telling about health care. The media would have called them on it. But today it's a sign of how much the America we know has declined and just how much trouble this country is in because of the fall of journalism. True journalism simply does not exist in today's market, except for a few smart, brave people like Rachel Maddow.

So Americans are scared to death and confused because of the lies of Republican LAWMAKERS and their cohorts. This is a national shame and tragedy. All the while, our so-called media sits by and holds panel discussions to discuss the lies. DISGUSTING, America. We deserve better than this.

Too bad it isn't illegal for national figures like Steele and his cohorts to lie, cheat, deceive, manipulate and frighten the people of this country in order to waylay progressive, much needed legislation. The republican party is abusing the First Amendment in their battle to prop up and subsidize the private health insurance industry.

We need to bring our country into the 21st century, and take our place with a prosperous and healthy populace along with the other industrialized nations of the world. Our healthcare is the most expensive in the world, but our health ranks 37th. Private health insurers are bleeding us dry, taking up 18% of our GNP for their efforts to manage, pay, deny and finagle health claims. Anyone who has had to make claims for serious illness or chronic care knows how duplicitous this industry is.

The Republican Party has no rational basis to tell the people why health insurance reform is not needed. So what the do is lie, distort and engage in terrorizing the social security set. It is despicable, utterly cynical and beneath contempt. The media and the voices of liberalism and progressive thought have an affirmative duty to challenge this slimy media campaign and decry it. The people as a whole need to know the truth of how the way we finance healthcare is driving us into national bankruptcy and killing thousands of people every day. Lets call them out on their lies.

I heard some great points earlier on the radio:

1. The economy IS turning around - the main page should be the article from the WSJ

2. Obama is correct on the changes that first need to be made in the present insurance industry as the most important since they will take place immediately - those being - no more pre-existing exclusions, no more bankruptcy due to medical bills, no more denying coverage, etc. those things will take place immediately!! The next step is the public option, but it is NOT the only thing, nor the absolute most important thing. Don't attack yet, just listen. Watch the movie SICKO - those people were insured and we must stop that in its tracks NOW. The public option would not take place until 2013 and we need action now. I also have marched etc. for a strong Public Option, but don't be drawn into the idea that the insurance companies are happy with the other things that I have mentioned. They want liberals to say Public Option or nothing, because they could then keep doing what they are doing, unfettered.

Any one who has actually read HR3200 knows that the way it it written can be interpretated 10 ways to sunday, so can these really be called falsehoods or just another interpretation of what is on paper. I guess it comes down to understanding of the English langauge, which is a problem for many ( myself Included ) sometimes talking to my children, I have to sneak out the dictionary. In reading HR3200, I had to keep the dictionary next to me at all times as it is written in legal langauge mumbo jumbo,( so much for transparency) so by the time you put together a complete thought on just a couple of paragraphs, you need electric shock therapy just to calm down. If you are good at reading between the lines you should have no trouble, as for me, I can't even understand abstract art.
