Obama School Speech: President To Deliver Televised Speech To Nation's Students

President Obama is planning to deliver a nationally-televised speech on education to students across the country next Tuesday, the Washington Post reports. Obama will give the speech at Wakefield High School in Arlington, VA, and it will be broadcast on the White House website as well as CSPAN. The focus of the back-to-school speech will be on the importance of education.

White House officials said Obama's speech would be the first by a sitting president to students about achievement since 1991, when George H.W. Bush spoke to the nation's schoolchildren from Deal Junior High School in the District.

One might assume that such a speech would be free of controversy, and yet as HuffPost's Jason Linkins reported earlier today, Florida's GOP Chair Jim Greer has denounced the speech, warning that Obama will attempt to indoctrinate students with "socialist ideology."
