New York Times:

After the C.I.A. inspector general's report on prisoner interrogation was released last week, former Vice President Dick Cheney settled into his usual seat on Fox News to express his outrage -- not at the illegal and immoral behavior laid out in the report, of course, but at the idea that anyone would object to torturing prisoners. He was especially vexed that the Obama administration was beginning an investigation.

So Mr Cheny believes that underlings who followed his orders should not be prosecuted. I agree, the people who authored these actions should be nailed to the wall.

However, he goes on to say that those who went beyond actions that he authorized shouldn't be prosecuted, either. Mind-boggling.

So anything goes then Mr Cheny - rape of women and children, sexual humiliation based on religious beliefs, mock executions, death threats to prisoners familes? What kind of man are you?

You are either with us or against us -- so said Bush, though he actually said you are either with us or with the terrorists. As it turns out concerning torture, massacre, religious zealotry, rouge aggression, cronyism, fanaticism, corrupted souls, overreach of power, desecration of humanity, general BS, etc...

...the lines are blurred. Being thuggish made us safer Mr. Vice President? With all due respect your lordship, thug approaches to life only ever beget -- retaliation. Surely you -- a student of history, have studied contemporary gang warfare (fomented by your Party -- among others -- through drug distribution, welfare traps, inferior educational institutions and opportunities, weapons distribution, tilted and slanted justice, and all sorts of other trickery). Well, if you have not studied what happens in a thug infested environment, allow me to expound on how the thang goes down.

You kill one of theirs -- they kill one or two of yours.
You step on their shoes -- they burn down your house.
Ever escalating tit-for-tat childishness is the thug approach. Think about it, gang bangers in many cases do not own any property yet they stake a claim to territory, talk about indoctrinated clueless zombies. But that is the environment America nurtured and that many accommodated through choices "they made". The gang bangers at your level sir, are also delusional. For natural death proves everyday who and what is calling the shots. Dreams of world hegemony aside -- you just rentin’!

Next time I go on a crime spree, I'll take a page from Ch eney's book and be very vexed indeed at any investigation that is launched as a result.

USA?: Decline of Roman Empire: Overexpansion+Armies +Mercenari es+Barbari ans (Wall Street)+Inflation!

Many historians speculate that the rapid growth of the empire over a relatively short period of time and the economic inflation that followed could have contributed substantially to the empire's decay. Due to incredible size of the military, it required a huge budget to maintain many key elements in its survival! At the time the empire was fighting enemies in many territories and contributing huge sums of silver and gold in order to keep up its armies.

Edward Gibbon famously placed the blame on a loss of civic virtue among the Roman citizens. They gradually entrusted the role of defending the Empire to Barbarian Mercenaries (Blackwater XE) who eventually turned on them.

Sounds like Wars and Contractors in Afghanistan and 1RAQ!

Even though this is nothing new, every contribution that points this out is of use, even if it DOES keep providing a platform for the lying, treasonous war criminals because it adds to the climate of rejecting the malarkey.

Cheney has been demonized for openly defending what is in reality the economic imperialism that America has been practicing since the 1950's. Read the principles of PNAC, and see if they sound like imperialism (e.g. "globalization"). Our government policies and corporate policies are the same thing. Even entities like the World Bank which ostensibly promote economic development, is a corporate tool to hobble resource-rich countries with debt, so corporations can swoop in and exploit. Less than 1/2 of WB projects are a success - by their own admission.
Cheney is a window into what we have become as a country - and attacking him thoroughly misses the point. It is not one man, it is monetocracy that will democracy.

When does the news media (I exclude Fox news and any of Murdochs propaganda engines from that) going to quit giving Cheney the time of day? His words are nothing but irrelavant drivel.

Cheney says whatever he wants his 'side' to hear .. he knows from experience that none of them will actually verify anything anyway, so why bother being accurate?

It worked in his campaign to attack Iraq after all .

When people like him, and Palin are caught lying, they don't care .... they are secure knowing how ignorant their supporters are. And they are right, unfortunately.

How about Diane Watson's history

WATSON: And, you know, the Cuban revolution that kicked out the wealthy, Che Guevara did that -- and then after they took over they went out among the population to find someone who could lead this new nation, and they found.... Well, just leave it there. Ha-ha! An attorney by the name of Fidel Castro.
Did anyone say anything about the Cuban health system?" And let me tell you before you say, "Oh, it's communist," you need to down there and see what Fidel Castro put in place. And, I want you to know... Now, you can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro but he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met!

This assertion is potentially libelous and needs further attribution. Despite numerous sources, it’s origination is illusive to date. To wit: Dick Cheney is said to have contacted the Afghanistan station chief to encourage Xe (aka Blackwater) to recruit a sufficient number of martyr-inclined al-Qaeda or Taliban zealots to infiltrate the US for purposes of pointed terrorism and destruction of emotionally symbolic targets, a la Statue of liberty, Wall Street, NYSE, Golden Gate Bridge et al. Timing critical to influence Obama’s defeat in 2012, and to exonerate Mr. Cheney with an ‘I-told-you-so exclamation regarding Obama’s weakness on defense and Attorney General Holder’s ‘political’ investigation of CIA enhanced interrogation techniques, including water boarding. Sources requesting to remain unnamed said Mr Panetta was not pleased with the command circumvention, but for the interim would await direct fact-finding consultation before commenting further.

THIS might be the program that shocked Panetta prompting him to go to congress. Hmmmmm

I absolutely do not doubt this.

Cheney probably put all this in place last year. Remember when he went to Iraq?

God I am sick to my stomach.
