Letterman Slams Palin Over 'Vanity Fair' Article, Possible 2012 Run (VIDEO)

Last night, Letterman addressed the rumors swirling that Dick Cheney will run for president in 2012 with Sarah Palin as his VP candidate. "Talk about your dream ticket...Oh, buddy, the comedy recession is over," he said.

Dave went on to discuss the recently released "Vanity Fair" article on Levi Johnston, in which the father of Bristol Palin's baby claims Sarah wanted to keep her daughter's pregnancy a secret:

Sarah told me she had a great idea: we would keep it a secret--nobody would know that Bristol was pregnant. She told me that once Bristol had the baby she and Todd would adopt him...She was nagging--she wouldn't give up. She would say, 'So, are you gonna let me adopt him?' We both kept telling her we were definitely not going to let her adopt the baby. I think Sarah wanted to make Bristol look good, and she didn't want people to know that her 17-year-old daughter was going to have a kid.

"Oh yeah, like I'm gonna make a joke about this. None of my business. Whatever you want. Live and let live, that's my motto," said Letterman to waves of applause. This obvious reference to the trouble he had with Palin supporters after joking about her family a few months back didn't stop Dave from taking shots at the ex-Governor for her hunting skills and Russia-watching.

Sarah Palin is a HUGE joke anyways.. she is comedy gold.. all she has to do is be herself and it give the comedians so much material..

Dave is brilliant. He repeated what's on the Vanity Fair magazine about Palin adapting Bristol's baby and stood there for about 10 seconds without saying a word/joke about the fiasco. He still generated laughs.

Dave, teen pregnancy is a tragic topic, making fun of it is hard, and associating alex rodriguez with Bristol is disgusting. You have a right to try to be funny, but if you aren't, you are liable, same as all professions. Doctors, farmers, all have a right to do what they do, but if they fail in their production and sale, they are liable. This is an issue of taste, and professionalism, not topic; and I think you missed again. The only problem with free speech and lack of censorship, is too many people are allowed to say stupid things that distract us and obscure the kingdom of god, to use a euphemism for a great tragedy on earth totally ignored by the kingdom of heaven's representation of society and the human being. The idea of the media is to focus on what truly is important---and in terms of that manifestation, the media is obviously designed or used now to obscure: our hope is that a lot of good can happen outside the purview of the internet, as a lot of good can happen on the internet outside the purview of TV and paper, because things can be said, both good and bad, but what is claimed to happen contradicts the kingdom of god and its ensuing spiritual wisdom, and there are christs out there, christianity begets, where things actually do, or can, happen.

Please Dave, on weekends do top 10 lists for the next 20 years and put them in a Tupperware container in your fridge. I think David Letterman is funny and a great social critic. There is a biblical statement that judge and you shall be judged. Isn't it possible Ms. Palin is reaping what she is sowing?
