adding the color green and the word "green" to their company logo and designs does not make Mc Donald's a green company. but..lol.
"kind to trees" means they aint made of wood---- http://www.suburbanempire.com
Forbes just made Exxon the "green company of the year".
what's next? Amy Weinhouse as Drug Czar?
I may not like their food but they deserve kudos for at lest TRYING!
What if everybody committed to a 25% reduction in energy use?
Why bother doing something is you are going to get bashed anyways? Maybe more people would be supportive of the environmental movement if people wouldn't be so judgmental towards others!
The product going into their new EnergyStar appliances isn't really food, and has an array of chemical additives. Nothing very green about that; I wonder why McDonalds never successfully marketed a vegie burger? Guess it's better to destroy natural habitat for beef, and ravage the cardiovascular health of their patrons. Don't supersize -- run for your life!
I was walking my dogs at dusk the other night near a "tech center" full of office buildings. In all the buildings, almost all the lights were on on every floor. Look at downtown high rises at night. Why do they leave all the lights on?
Sometimes because they're lazy.
Sometimes because there is a night crew of some kind working (cleaners, network teams working on wiring.)
Sometimes because members of their staff are working long hours of overtime.
Mostly because they're lazy. It's pretty easy to automate lights.
FUNNY BUT SOMEONE PAYS THAT ELECTRIC BILL..THE COMPANY DOES AND PASSES IT ALONG TO YOU.
Thanks for asking that:)
Here in America we spend at least $10 Billion on Light Pollution...$8 Billion on wasted light indoors and $2 Billion in wasted outdoor lighting
Some cities now are deciding to turn off some lights.
You can even use full cutoff fixtures that direct the light down to the ground and not into your eyes or
up into the sky.
If you remember "Earth Hour" that's what folks did...turn off these lights.

this will never happen. one of the greatest contributors to harmful emissions is the mass-scale raising & transporting of beef that places like mcdonalds do
What about all the packaging/boxes/wrapping? That alone - think of those millions of big
sippie cups and their lids- is doing in the rainforest, deciduous forests , landfills and
the Pacific plastic garbage vortex. These places should be leveled and turned into
organic gardens with sales stands for the produce.
Bad packaging....
Ever bought a package of Nicorette?
Twice the amount of plactic necessary
Oh, thought you meant that they are selling vegetables.....good snack food like carrots...celery....and fruits!
Nope. They have no food.
well they sell billions worth of this non food.Don't see THAT changing.
How about starting with recycling. I have been to many a McDonalds and I have never seen a recycling bin in any of their restaurants.
I have never liked McDonalds, Wendy's, or any of the fast food restaurants, but that does not mean that I object or look down at anyone who wants to eat there. This is a free country and I am soo tired of the government telling us what to eat, what to drive, what to buy for our homes, etc., etc. It makes me want to do just the opposite.
You are sooo tired of the government telling you what to eat, drive, buy for your home? I don't recall the government ever telling me any of those things. In what way does the government communicate these orders to you?
If the government told you that you would save money by NOT lighting up the night sky or turning off your lights before you closed up shop, would you listen and do it?
Can you explain why many businesses, that close around 9 pm keep their lights on ALL NIGHT LONG?
PLEASE DON'T SAY "SECURITY" AS YOU CAN ALWAYS USE MOTION SENSOR LIGHTS...
FACT IS THAT THE MOST CRIME HAPPENS IN THE DAYTIME!
McVomit is greenwashing!
this is the perfect example of greenwashing...thanks
It is a start.
The best approach to reducing environmental impact is to reduce use of Natural Resources. Cap N Trade tax will be counter productive and gives environmentalists a black eye and no credibility amongst people who work in manufacturing. The Cap N Trade tax will be seen as a betrayal of Obama's promise not to increase taxes on those making lass than $250K.
Cap & Trade worked fine before. It can work again.
The easiest form of pollution to control is LIGHT POLLUTION.
All you need to do is to either replace bad fixtures with ones that direct light..
DOWN TO THE GROUND WHERE YOU NEED IT.
OR
EVEN EASIER...
TURN OFF UNEEDED LIGHTS
how absolutely ridiculous!
Up till a few years ago, BurgerKing was getting all its beef from CentralAmerica......in areas that used to be rain forest. The meat industry accounts for 18% of greenhouse gases (more than transport & manufacturing combined).
No green building will make up for that.
McDonald's is just jumping on the "we're green" bandwagon. No one with an ounce of sense (that's 8 ounces before cooking) will believe McDonalds is a place to eat at.
