washingtonpost.com:

Today, the energy that powered Obama to victory has begun to dissipate. Some of his supporters remain on the sidelines; others are, if not disillusioned, questioning what has happened to his presidency. As they look toward 2010, Democrats are nervous. Gov. Bill Ritter, appointed Sen. Michael F. Bennet and at least one Democratic member of the House will probably face difficult election campaigns next year.

The first "sign" of trouble for the Democrats was March 9th, when Obama stood next to Tim Geitner a lied about the AIG bonuses that Chris Dodd put in the stimulous bill and Obama signed.

The second sign was guaranteeing a health care bill by the end of August.

The third, and final nail, was Obama's re-appointment of Bernanke, the Chief Snake Oil Salesman that lies about the recession all the way into it and then prints trillions of dollars to sustain the same reckless banks ... yeah, that was good policy, circumventing the Rule of Law.

Either you are part of the problem or part of the solution.

Demand a full audit of the Federal Reserve, every penny in and every penny out.

Sall your Senator and urge them to vote for Senate Bill 604: Audit the Fed. Shut down the Fed. Take back America's right to print its own currency, stop letting private banks control our currency.

In 1935, during a Senate hearing on banking, the question of who should control the nations credit?

A> Banks.
B> Government.

The answer is the government, because we can at least vote them out of office. As the fraudulent bankers have proven ... a la Ken Lewis the CEO of Bank of America: Lying is rewarded with Obama's approval.

You know, I agree with much of what you say, but you need to quit playing the Obama card. It's a systemic problem (the multinationals run the country), and complaining that this President or that President is to blame is to miss the point entirely: they are predictably serving the "free speech" election money they receive from the corporations who own this country.

I agree with you about the Fed. Audit them? Run them out of town! The good the Fed does: controls interest rates and acts as a buffer in times of recession (this ought to be the Treasury's responsibility, as the Constitution indicates). The bad the Fed does: they lend to America at interest and are nothing but a bankers' consortium. Their currency is backed by nothing, and they themselves get to manipulate its value. We owe the Fed (they are just a bank consortium, remember, whose largest members took money from us in the bailouts - money that we borrowed from the Fed, the bankers' bankers, at interest) more than we can ever possibly possess, let alone repay (unless, of course, they created even more of it and lent it to us without interest, which would be inflationary in the extreme, they say... can't do that). They are an unconstitutional pimple on the face of our democracy and it's time to consider using some medicated pads...

Funny. In 2006, I distincly remember this exact same prediction, even the DAY before the dems took the house & senate. "Pundits" from every station were all "republicans will be the majority in both houses" and they were f**king wrong.

It's all a game folks. Ignore idiotic stories like these, continue to support your progressive candidates.

She's posted a lot here. I enjoy her comments, and happen to agree with her. Whether you want to believe it or not, there are many well-financed players here attempting to subvert President Obama's agenda. They are waging an all-out offensive to weaken his presidency and, by doing so, perhaps win back control of Congress. They are liars, fabricators, manipulators and wrong. They do plant misleading stories via their mouthpieces. Ever heard of Glenn Beck?

I'm the first to criticize President Obama for not standing up to the gentry. I pay attention to stories from all sides of the spectrum (which explains my blood pressure, I suppose). I've supported him where he deserves it, and criticized him when he deserves that, too. In my opinion, helenwheels does the same. She's articulate, smart, witty and consistently spot-on. And doggone it, people like her. Apparently, however, not you.

Rarely have I come across so blatant, and impertinent, a tro\ as you, sir. Isn't there a bridge somewhere you can hang out under?

More trouble soon....

"The true and correct photocopy of the birth certificate obtained is attached to this affidavit as Exhibit A," the declaration reads. "I declare, certify, verify, state and affirm under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the foregoing statements of fact and descriptions of circumstances and events are true and correct."

Smith's affidavit, which includes a copy of the certificate, has been filed with Judge David Carter of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Carter is scheduled to preside over a hearing on the case on Sept. 8.

I'm not seeing any problems in 2010 or 2012, for that matter. I live in a historically conservative part of Virginia, and all I'm seeing is yard signs for the democratic candidates. It'll be close, but Deeds will win the governor's race in Virginia.

Whatever gains the Dems finally made after Bill Clinton's Republican light presidency, Obama is quickly morphing into Bill Clinton and that will lead to catastrophic losses for Dems in the years to come.

As G.W. Bush would say, "fool me once...uh...well you know...don't fool me again." Obama's not going to fool anyone the second time around. Gee, thank goodness Obama picked Rahm Emanuel to keep all those blue dogs in line that Rahm helped get elected...where would the Dems be without the Republican wing of the Democratic Party running the agenda?

Well, I've become officially jaded by politicians forever after the Obama experience; this hasn't been change I can believe in. I wanted to believe it would be different this time around, though I was wrong.

He's weak and an ineffectual leader (see forcing Van Jones to resign for Glenn Beck and his ignorant fans) and he's controlled by big Pharma and other corporations. Until we somehow get the money out of our political system nothing will change and we will continue to live under a corporate fascist government.

"it is people like you that make it difficult for either party to accomplish anything."

As thought the system of democracy has failed because of the opposition party? Open your eyes ... there is no opposition party, and the DNC and RNC are lying to you to convince voters that they are incompetent because of opposition.

The reality of the day: Obama is as much a problem as GW Bush was. Both have repeated circumvented the Rule of Law. Bankrupt companies are supposed to go to bankruptcy court! But instead, both parties in power defy the rules and print trillions to give to their political friends ... BTW, that's a fiat government.

The solution: Demand every penny back immediately. I don't care how upset "investors" in China will be ... in case you didn't notice, that "Private Equity" that wants to buy your local bank, and your morgage is the China Investment Corporation, a front for the Chinese government. Making it easier for our enemies to own us is not a solution.

End the Federal Reserve immediately.

NV2's point is, that no matter who wins elections in this two party system, we get the same shite over and over. You want change, then vote for 3rd party which I've been doing since 1988. The reason things don't really change is because of people like you.

I was a bit concerned that when we had the WH and both houses of congress that we would understandibly over reach. Here's our problem; the majority of the voters don't really agree with us progressives. But so many of these voters are ingnorant and don't know that what we are trying to do is really in their best interest. Progressives really are smarter than most americans but we have to find a way to mold our message to where people who aren't as smart as we are can support it. Hey I don't like having to patronize all of those uneducated and ingnorant voters but we need them for their votes so let's do waht we have to do to get their votes.

If the Dems were smart, they would "over reach" and solve the healthcare problem wih the public option and have it pay off in the next couple of years. Instead they still act as if they need permission from the repugs to do their da mned jobs that we the people gave them.

"Smarter" interesting. Can we safely assume those working in Wall Street for example are smarter then shall we say "The working Class?" Can we safely assume those in the Republican Party are much smarter then the average "Joe or Jane."
If this is the case then it would appear all of these "Smarts" have brought our country to it's knee's.
Maybe you should replace "Smart" with "Self-Serving" that we all understand.

I agree, and I believe in him, too. He's been dealt a bad hand, but is playing it well, considering. I also think we're no longer used to how the real democratic process works after eight Bush-Cheney years when their agenda was pushed through using fear. I appreciate that Obama contemplates his moves well, and believe that he'll push when he needs to.
Never underestimate a wise man. He may not be the con-men we're used to, but I thought that's the change that we wanted. What I'm trying to say is, give him a chance and continue to believe. He deserves at least that. And try not to feed into the instant gratification school of thought where we always want immediate results.

It's not that we have given up on Obama, it's just the news media trying to keep their "Party of No" readers. We are will aware that Obama could not turn things around in a heart beat, changes of this order take time. We must remember that All Republicans have the same mind set, "Do or say anything that can hurt the President."
Talk about poor losers. Of course most of this chatter is directed toward job security.

That sounds very easy doesn't it, just pack up and leave. Bush got us into a no-win war. To just leave would lead to the second biggest mistake, the slaughter of millions of innocent people.
We are stuck in a no win situation, but just for today. We must at least leave feeling the country has a good chance to defend it's self.
