Warning: Feel Good Post. Don't know if this has already been posted here, but did anybody see the C-Span question and answer call in after the speech?

On one of the last calls, (don't recall if it was a parent or a teacher) said she was watching the speech with her Down's Syndrome child who apparently is struggling with their studies. She said the child turned to her after the speech and said, "I'm going to try harder."

Now THAT one result made giving that speech worthwhile.

Oops, think it should have been "Down Syndrome"

how can any of the rethugs say anything about what was in the speech...it had not been made public yet. why is it so bad for school kids to write to POTUS or do a lesson on the speach??
everyone get your voting finger ready, the times a comming...it needs to back fire on them real bad, they need to loose at least 45 seats in the senate.that would teach them to listen to the people..
we are the ones that live in the real world..they live so far removed from society they dont know what it is to be an American living in the US.they have to much authority of to many things.there own paycheck being one thing.we should be able to vote on there pay raises according to there performace of representing ou in there district.

ok...florida it's up to all of you to get rid of jim greer..you see what kind of lunitic he is ...you people in florida are the only ones that can VOTE him out of office...its the only way, short of stuffing him and mounting him on the wall in the capitol building as a example to all the other greedy pocket-lined by lobbiest let to roam free at the expence of all americans.

We Floridian Democrats are seriously trying to get rid of all these right wing Republican crazy people. We just need time and voting power. Remember Florida went "blue - Democrat" in the presidendial election last November. We are working on it.

So now that Obama has delivered his speech to the school kids in which he talked about responsibility and using education as a path to succeed, the right-wingnuts in the form of Limbaugh say, "Good stuff... but we all know that he doesn't really believe in it." I guess only conservatives, especially those on the far right, are the only people who believe in such notions.

Mr. Cleveland you are so right. The Republican party believes that only its people have any family values, patriotism or anything else American and positive. They consider it theirs alone. This is a stretch, but I am going to say it anyway. There is an element in American that believes that love of country, family values, a father loving his children and so on is something Blacks don't lay claim to. This isn't spoken of in public, but the conservatives are angry because Mr. Obama is Black man speaking of family values. The president is obviously a very good father (daddy) who loves his wife and daughters. He also cares about this great country of ours. This is something some people are extremely uncomfortable with because it doesn't fit stereotype.

I can not understand what the Republicans expected to benefit from such a un-patriotic stand. I just do not see the benefits in having most of the American people think they are loonies. The sad part is that half of the republicans know full well they've gone to far but are to afraid of the other half to come against them. So now they have to go down with the loonies because of their "name sake."

The speech was heart warming and wondeful but had lost some of it's impact because the President was belitteled. It was totally unfair to have his speech screened, scrutinized and approved by a republican party chair in Florida before it was aired.I am still incensed.Who the hell is Jim Greer,he is only one parent and he is not the POTUS.I am damn mad...pissing mad.

What is disturbing about Greer is that claims about Obama's "indoctrination" of children spread like wild fire to all the uneducated dittoheads, but his statement recanting will only be heard by a few.

This is what they did last year at the campaigns, this is what they have done this year at the town halls and all over the country. They plant the seeds of hatred first then try to recant after their dirty deeds are done.

For this brainwashed parents who object to their children hearing Obama speak -- Obama will not loose sleep over your decision, he has 2 children of his own to worry about. Let your children listen to borderline schizos Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. Hope you have plenty money to pay for psychosis medication because they are going to need it after listening to your heros Rush and Glenn.

SEE!!! I told you so! Last week when this clown made his original statement, I posted that give him a few days and he'll reverse himself. GENIUS!!!

Mr. Greer, please screen school textbooks, television shows, your children's internet activity, billboard advertising, instruction manuals, food labels, street signs, laundry labels, and cooking recipes for possible socialist messages. The American Heart Association is sponsoring a "Go Red for Women" campaign. Sounds commie to me!

Of course he would try to take credit for it, lol.

Perhaps the repugs looked at it and decided, "hey, the peasants will realise we're utter reptiles just saying absolutely anything that will provoke a fear based knee-jerk reaction and I mean ANYTHING. They'll take us for loonies! Perhaps we better pull back a little."

um, hello people with heads in sand. the contents of the presentation was altered drastically in between his comments. if there was nothing shady about it to begin with, then why was it changed?
