McCain Told Schilling To Run For Kennedy Seat

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- When former Boston Red Sox ace Curt Schilling started making noise last week about pursuing Ted Kennedy's Senate seat, he said he had been contacted by several people about running -- but he declined to say by whom.

It turns out one of those people was John McCain.

Given the precedent in McCain's choices for political office, I guess we can expect the same due diligence for appropriateness and readiness. Schilling, stick to what you know: baseball and chewing tobacco. Don't embarass us by running for a senate seat. You're out of your league. Get it?

There's no entry for Education in Schilling's bio on Wikipedia, but plenty about his 'mouth, his born-again Christian status and his support of Bush. On the MBL site, there's a reference to Yavapai JC, AZ for his education. So much for sending a smart GOP candidate for Teddy's Senate seat.

But here's the best part: he was born in Anchorage. Do you suppose McCain chooses candidates based on AK links???
