IAEA Session: US Says It Has "Serious Concern" That Iran Can Create A Bomb

VIENNA — The United States says it has "serious concerns" that Iran is deliberately trying – at a minimum – to preserve a nuclear weapons option.

Washington's chief envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency says a recent report by the nuclear watchdog shows that Iran is now either very near or already has enough low-enriched uranium to produce one nuclear weapon. Glyn Davies says that could happen if Iran made a decision to further enrich the material to weapons grade.

Davies says this ongoing enrichment activity moves Iran "closer to a dangerous and destabilizing possible breakout capacity."

Davies spoke Wednesday at a closed session of the IAEA's 35-nation board of governors.

And the rest of the world has serious concerns about the nuclear bombs Israel has. How about invading Israel to find those? Should be easy because everyone knows they are really there.

We will never know what is truly going on in Iran, either a)somebody gets some real hard evidence, (but we'll disbelieve them anyway) or Iran marches out the bomb on a world platform. I'm afraid the latter will happen and the World, (not the wimpy UN, who is so one-sided anyway) will have to deal with it.

A nuclear weapon is a liability - it is simply a doomsday weapon - see previous commenter arvay. Also see zaz33. The use of a nuclear weapon as a offensive weapon by Iran would mean the end of Persian people for all time - not a outcome any Persian wants.
Perhaps if Iran ever does get by making or purchasing a number of nuclear weapons - checkmate.
Not a nuclear free Middle east but at least some meaningful dialog on a Palestinian state without encroachment into its sovereignty.
That is change I can believe in.

I think that is a dangerous game to play. A nuke should never be an option and there should be a concerted move towards wholesale disarmament and a total ban. No country should have nukes at their disposal.

These countries aren't stupid, acquiring nuclear weapons is for one purpose: deterrent/defensive. I say let every country have them, no one will use them however, because they know that it would be their end. Only one country has used this type of weapon; besides, the US doesn't attack countries that possess them, the US negotiates with them.

When did serious concern become evidence?

There is no evdene that Iran has ever pursued nucleare weapons. - NONE

Iran's ability to achieve breakout is a carefully measured and rational response to Israel's 200 regionally destabilizing nuclear weapons.

I'm sure the iranians have this material -- if it exists -- in a place where the Israeli air force can never reach it.

For my money, the surest way to put a lid on israeli aggressiveness is for Iran to make, say, four weaponized nukes and let the Israelis know that they are ready to deliver a response to an attack.

Checkmate.

Then we can all discuss a nuclear weapons free Mideast.

Translation: we still want to invade Iran. 2 occupations are not enough for us. We also still have 5 other countries that we want to invade:
