Democrato you sure want a lot of information. Why do you think you deserve it?
Its personal and private. And you dont really have a clue what the situation was with their adoption..

Aww, I'm happy for them. I just got back from living in Korea for a year and visited orphanages there... Korea is a culture where bloodlines are very important and if a child is born to parents that can't (or don't want to) raise it or if they come from a mixed set of parents (GASP!), Korean couples who can't have children don't want to adopt them--they aren't "blood."

I think it's great they are not getting a designer white baby, straight from the birth mother's womb.... and I also think it's a shame that all these people are lambasting them for being "trendy." I wish anyone who has a negative thing to say about international adoption could visit an orphanage--it'll break your heart how many kids need good parents.

What a great gal! Having children is purely egotistical, with so many children in this world, let alone in our own neighborhoods that need love and care, why do so many people go out and have children. The stress that over-population has put on our planet is ridiculous. With the shortage of health care pros in the not too distant future, I think it would be wiser to put off children and ready ourselves to take care of all the aging baby boomers and homeless kids at home and abroad. ADOPTION is so noble.

Having experience with Korean adoptions, I would like to know how she and her husband circumvented the Korean adoption requirements-mainly, Korea's rule that they need to be married at least 3 years to be able to adopt. I would also like to know how they bypassed the long waiting lists to adopt from Korea and also were amazingly matched with a girl-as more boys are available for adoption from Korea than girls-and generally families are not allowed to specify gender.

She said the adoption moved faster because the baby is a special needs baby.

It doesn't matter-she still bypassed certain rules-ie marriage length be do the adoption. I would also like to know exactly what the "special needs" was....

Good for them. There are so many children in the world in need of homes. We don't need to be breeding more.

You've got that right: there are millions of children needing homes and we need to quit breeding for 20 years. At least.

I wonder if she'll start talking smack about her new daughter to the media as soon as she enters preschool.

"the 10-month-old girl is from Korea."

Because there simply are NO children in the United States needing homes.

The rich do love to "pick out" their decorations, and pretty China-Babies are all the rage these days, like Ugg Boots.

Her sister was adopted from Korea so this sounds personal to her. The baby is also a special needs child and it is great that she will be taken care of by people who love her.

She is free to adopt who she wants. If and when you adopt a child, you should also feel free to make your own decisions on all aspects of the adoption.

Excuse me, but all children deserve families, regardless of where they are born. And If I read one more comment that states the only reason someone adopts a child is "because they want a fashion accessory" or "because they like to collect children" or "because it is trendy" to adopt from a certain country, I believe I will hurl. A child is not a handbag that you can bring home and then set on a shelf when you are tired of it. I have adopted three times: a son from the US foster care system, and two daughters from China. Parenting them is the absolute hardest thing I have done in my life. Parenting is hard work, whether your children are biological OR adopted. It is a huge and lifelong responsibility. And thankless much of the time, as most parents can attest. Whoever makes these stupid statements about children as "fashion accessories" are completely ignorant, and obviously childless. No one in their right mind would subject themselves to so much time, work and responsibility if their only objective was to have a pretty little child to dangle from their arm. I'm sorry that it is so hard to believe, but there are actually people out there, celebrities and commoners alike who have a sincere desire to do something meaningful with their lives.

Adopting a child in and of itself is not a fashion accessory.

But when you get to the stage of Angelina Jolie, who seems to be obsessed with it, then it starts to sound more true. I've read that her kids have no friends, because she moves them around from city to city, and they dont' stay in one school for longer than a few months. Apparently, she bumped out another family to enroll her oldest child in a prestigious school in NYC, then left a few months later, and he was off to start school elsewhere. If she prioritized her kids, she would stay in one place to give them stability.

No time for that; too busy at the computer snarking anonymously.

(and before you commence lashing out, I am now retired, but had over 150 adolescents in my residential treatment program for ten years plus three in my home)

It's really not our business why she chose the country she chose. She's doing a good thing by adopting. By your reasoning, everyone in the US must only adopt from the US? Wow.

Yes, adoption is a truly beautiful thing...not to mention the fact that she announced on Ellen that this baby has special needs. The name she announced is a hybrid of her mother's (Nancy) and her Korean sister's (Leigh). Quite something for H-wood, eh?
