Anyone remember Sibel Edmonds? Randy Glass?

As I watch the horrors of the videos shown today of 9/11, what I think about, beyond what those people are going through, is that it's too bad we couldn't be rallying around this President, instead of that one, the one that who's ideology had a play in making that event happen. What a different world we could be living in today. It's true, whether you wanted to hear politics or not.

I extoll the memories of the victims as much as anyone. http://www.nytimes.com/2002/01/03/opinion/l-one-by-one-a-roll-call-of-loss-963410.html?scp=2&sq=%22eric+c.+jacobson%22&st=nyt

I also lament that for its co-authors, 9/11 is the "gift that keeps on giving." The preponderance of evidence points to a scenario wherein rightist authorities got wind of the hijacking plot, decided to let it succeed, and make it infinitely worse and more lethal than it would have been (by pre-arranging to bring down the buildings in the direct aftermath via explosives), in order to justify an endless war against third world peoples and Islam in particular.

Note the general acceptance ever since of the (moronic) “clash of civilizations” thesis.

Islam is the third great monotheistic faith. It is out of pure bigotry and racism that we refer only to Judeo-Christian and not to Judeo-Christian-Islamic civilization.

Peoples and cultures intolerably affronted and oppressed will produce their share of extremists. Smart "have" groups throughout history realize this and act moderately, morally and decently in their own self-interest. Not this generation of Americans.

Contrary to the lessons of Vietnam, almost all American officials and much of the public now believe in Pax Americana and associated military solutions to political, social, economic, political and moral challenges. The towers' collapse on 9/11, alas, serves to powerfully justify this atavistic worldview.

The only true way to honor the people lost that fateful day is to ask questions, and unfortunately, we are not prepared to handle the answers to those questions.

You can honor 9/11 by investigating and prosecuting those who abused our well-intentioned patriotism and who cultivated a society of fear until we were torturing detainees and sacrificing both American soldiers and foreign civilians for oil.

We don't have the luxury of ignoring these war crimes just because they're politically inconvenient for the current administration. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzales, Rice, and others must be held accountable or it'll happen again. Next time it might be American citizens who are held for years without charges and tortured in the name of national security.

Cold, raining, and windy in New York. Thoroughly depressing weather for a depressing day. While the freepers and townhallers will be using this tragic day to bump up their "patriot" credentials in all trailer parks across the red states, the "freedom" tower is still not built after eight long years. EIGHT YEARS and still nothing! The best memorial to everyone who lost their lives here in New York would have been for the tower to have been replaced within a year, and show those terrorists they couldn't keep us down. Instead there's a hole in the ground for conservatives and "patriots" to have photo-ops. The America of the past would have rebuilt something taller and stronger within the year, but it looks like that America has been destroyed by republicans with a little help from their Saudi friends.

To honor the memory of my friend Ron Gamboa, who died on Flight 175 eight years ago today I ask: Why did our government ignore the many warnings from allied intelligence agencies and domestic agents before 9/11? And why did the government refuse to intervene on that day?

This is a great day to think about the victims. No politics. No war on terror. Just those we lost that day. This moving account from inside the buildings allowed me to focus my attention on one victim.
