Issues like this are one of the many, many reasons why I left the Catholic church.

That's the problem with the Catholic Church - it's acceptable to employ and cover up for pedophile priests, but a sin to lavish praise on a fine man - a legend - who made such a positive difference in the lives of so many with his passion for helping the underpriveleged. COBRA, The Americans with Disabilities Act, Health coverage for children, Mental Health Parity Act, Civil Rights, and so many more. And he spent his whole adult life atoning for his terrible mistake at Chappaquidack. Ted Kennedy did more to make the world a better place in his 47 years in the Senate than the Catholic Church has done in 2000 years.

The Catholic church never censored Hitler, and to this day he is still in good standing.

Don't be so glad. Some are worse than others, but all institionalized religion is hypocritical, created by men for political power to control the masses.

The self loathing that the Church has for it's own is against what Jesus taught.
Jesus taught us to love one another as He has loved us.
Jesus taught us to love our enemies and _pray_ for them.
Jesus taught us that God is love, not hatred for someone with a differing view.
Jesus taught us that of the three, faith hope and love, that love was the greatest, and that we should live in love.

So how is insulting Edward Kennedy after his death by apologizing for a prayer not hateful?
Edward Kennedy was a man who not only loved his family dearly, but loved his country dearly and gave his life to public service. No one in the Church is without sin, but they are casting stones anyway.
May God forgive their grievous sin for such hateful speech against God's servant.
Edward Kennedy fought for human rights and equality.
The Church of Rome fights for inequality, subjugating women and homosexuals.
It's not hard to see who is Godly and who is not.
John the Beloved said that you will know Christians by their love. The Church has long abandoned love, and along with it their followers, and it's no wonder that their followers have abandoned the Church to find God.

A bunch of old men in skirts who live in the Vatican do not run this country. That they and their ilk would show disrespect to a man like Kennedy is shameful.

The Catholic Church is becoming increasingly irrelevant in this country.

"Catholic Church-Affiliated Publisher Apologizes For Prayer Honoring Ted Kennedy"

It was a mistake.

The Devil-Worshippers realized that Kennedy was a good guy.

Can't be honoring anyone like that! Right?

Possibly the Kennedy children will find other worthy causes to make their charitable contributions. I am not Catholic, and it did not matter to me that Kennedy was, he fought for the right to think for ourselves and for us to be humane towards all. In today's world, that pretty much makes him a saint.

How is it that Catholics could be so unchristian as to be angered over a prayer for one who spent his entire life serving his fellow man. Christ would be sick of the things, the attitudes, the statements, the actions, all the garbage done in his name. How is it that Christians have strayed so far away from the teachings of Christ.

Because in America, "Christians" believe in a hardcore conservative, warmongering, free market capitalist Jesus.

In other words, they are basically Satanists.

Apologizing for a prayer?
That saddens me.

So we can no longer offer a prayer for someone whose passed because of his differing opinion?

I guess many of us are in deep trouble when it's our time. If my religion does not respect me as an individual then it is only logical that I should not respect my religion.

I wonder how this sits with the Pope, whose letter to Kennedy was read at his funeral.
