John Stossel Leaving ABC For Fox Business & Fox News

John Stossel is leaving ABC News for Fox, where he'll host a weekly show on Fox Business and host a series of specials for Fox News.

TVNewser reports that the libertarian "20/20" host is expected to sign a multi-year-deal with Fox, where he'll host a two-hour weekly show on Fox Business and make appearances on Fox News in both the daytime and primetime hours.

Stossel's departure comes on the heels of last week's announcement that Charlie Gibson is retiring from ABC News.

ABC released the following statement on Stossel's departure:

John has been an important part of the ABC News family for decades and we will miss him. He has engaged, and occasionally enraged, our audience with thought provoking opinions and analysis. John is a unique figure in American journalism and will be an asset to Fox News in this next chapter of his terrific career. We wish John the very best and look forward to hearing his take on the great issues of the day from his new home at Fox.

One has to wonder whether ABC was not happy with his participation with the Americans For Prosperity anti-health care reform town hall meetings.

Well anyway its nice to see a journalist of such esteem and who is held in such high regard for his dedication to fairness and balance join the pantheon of truth seekers at the cornerstone of truth in the media over at Fox news.

I am exciting to have many great episodes come out of his new show. His Greed episode and stupid in America are amazing episodes. he will finally get a real chance to spread a good message. It is sad all the people that say they hate him yet will never watch his material or discuss his views. They are sad fools that just say he is no good. Pathetic. Look people, John Stossel is not a right-winger. He opposes laws against pornography, marijuana, gambling, ticket scalping, prostitution, homosexual activity, and assisted suicide. He also opposes corporate welfare and bailouts.

I was sick of him anyway, so now I won't ever have to see his face because I don't watch Faux News Channel anyway. There isn't enough soap in the world to wash the slim of that show off.

While i didn't agree with him at times while at ABC, i respected him. I wonder if the hiring of John was to try and win back credibility for FOX as a respected news station. However, i have my doubts. I became so disgusted watching FOX the more Beck shouted that i don't know if i can turn that channel on again. Is John the voice of reason for that station or will the energies of Beck and others drag him down.
The fact that John went over to them, leaves me wondering, the credibility factor is hard to find.

Its about time they moved this guy to the Fiction Section of TV broadcasting instead of trying to promote him as belonging to the truth telling section. He is now where he belongs amongst liars and purveyors of journalistic trash.
