Tancredo Defends Joe Wilson: "President Is Either A Liar Or Stupid, And I Don't Think He's Stupid" (VIDEO)

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo didn't back down from his statement that Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) should not have apologized to President Obama for yelling out "you lie" during the President's address.

Appearing tonight on MSNBC's "The Ed Show" Tancredo doubled down on his remarks, saying not only that Wilson should not have apologized but also that Wilson was factually correct in calling Obama a liar. In fact, Wilson is the one who is incorrect.

Tancredo himself went on to call Obama a liar: "The President is either a liar or he's stupid, and by the way I don't think he's stupid."

The Bill says that your not allowed to ask questions regarding citizenship but ARE required to to ask for a social security number. Can an Illegal immigrant get a social security number? I don't think so. Fact check has confirmed that Wilson is WRONG. To defend him and his actions is further proof that the Republicans don't care about right from wrong. They have proven time and time again that if they stick to the facts they have no argument and therefor have committed themselves to misleading their supporters to push their agenda which is to keep the statuesque and prop up the Insurance industry and their massive profits.
However I think that this is the best thing that could have happened to President Obama and the Dems because it seems to have FINALLY united the Democrats and given the President the fuel to fight for the bill that he wants and based on the amount of uninsured Americans what your country seems to really need.

None of the bills going through congress right now have provisions to cover illegal immigrants so Wilson is a LIAR!! right now and probably in the future too you can't be turned away for healthcare in emergency rooms and that is fine by me. If illegal immigrants scare republicans so much why don't they go after their friends that own everything and punish businesses that hire them, if they didn't have financial opportunities they wouldn't come here. Face it, we can't have it both ways as a country, you can't encourage people to come here so we can have cheap labor then try not to treat them if they get sick. I do think we need to stop illegal immigration because it keeps wages too low for legal workers in many areas but I don't think we should continue to act like we as a country are a victim of these people when our business owners illegal behavior is the reason these people come here in the first place.

If Mr Wilson is a liar, why have the libs changed the bill?

Seems to me that a sincere effort has been made on the part of Obama to have Congress write the bill--like it is supposed to--and that means haggling out a compromise. Everyone got use to Bush's (Nixon's) "strong arm President"; but that is not what the Constitution prescribes.

Why not just call our president President O'Bama, and pretend he's a good Irishman....or perhaps call him President Barry Soetoro, and pretend he is Italian???

Actually that's probably not even white enough for the likes of wilson.....

The bill does not provide for illegal aliens being covered. Today as we exist they are not covered by medicare or medicaid. What you are discussing is enforcement triggers to insure that illegal aliens are not allowed in. What Mr. Wilson stated was " You Lie " when the President rightly stated the illegal aliens are not covered. Trying to twist this is a joke. But to those who believe any one who supports reform are a NAZI or a Facist this will probably work.

If you think it is bad now, wait until the Supreme Court overturns campaign finance reform and allows corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money to support or oppose political candidates. Once that happens, this nation is doomed.

It's sobering and scary that this nation is taken over by corporations and we are "scared" into believing a "government taken over "?

The US is slipping into mediocrity and guess where the CEO's are banking on? The likes of Ku.wa.it, Du.ba.i and the rest.

Wilson might lose in 2010, but between now and then he serves the GOP purpose of distracting people from the healthcare debate.
Hannity and Tancredo, among others, defend Wilson. Tancredo announced that President Obama is a "liar." Tancredo will take press whenever it's offered.

Here's how hosts like Schultz or Matthews should conduct their shows:

1. If you're the host, do as much homework on each discussed subject as you can.
2. Preface each conversation with a guest by saying you only allowed "Fact-based" discussions (or, at least, "Non-lie" discussions).
3. If the guest pulls out a lie and treats it as fact, silence their mic and call them out on it.
4. Describe the facts to them, and allow them to respond WITH facts (no unjustified "but it is true!" copouts).
5. If they are unable to respond WITH facts, cut their mic again, thank them for coming on, and go to commercial.

The host should not be snide or patronizing if they follow these rules, but should be firm in trying to keep the dialogue truthful if it is requested of their guests.

In my dreams is when that will happen, unfortunately. Be civil, or be gone! That is why I admire Richard Wolffe so much. He has such a calm demeanor.
On the other hand when Lawrence O'Donnell was battling Joe Scarborough it got a little heated but the facts did prevail, thanks to Lawrence.
MSNBC tolerates Pat Buchanon after all, but I grab the remote as soon as he starts to screech out his comments.
I hope it doesn't get to the point where someone has to pull a Ronald Reagan and state "hey, I paid for this microphone".

The best way to get rid of these bloviators is to remove their voice. Unfortunately, when you run a private media outlet, you HAVE to think "profit first". I mean, I'm glad we don't have the same systems as in, say, Iran or North Korea or China, but when you have executives defining the standards of journalism on cable news, is there much of a difference?

All your comments on this subject are valid. The corporate news networks do only what is in their best interest to obtain ratings. Although, I enjoy The Ed Show, he knows full well what people like Trancredo is going to say and how forcefully he will say it. The question should be...........why have him on in the first place?

No, we should not remove anyone's voice because, after all, we are the light of the world here in America.

Their are more of the crude among us than the cultured. Think about it. That's why Emily Post and Amy Vanderbilt made such good livings from etiquette and why 'class' behavior is all the rave.

Are you accepting the fact this is the age of plebs... as in Plebians? Rough, untrained, uneducated-- lacking all the social graces? Oh my.. who would have thought this possible - in this age and time. Now, the 'crude' gets the edge over the cultured. If that is in fact so... we have an awful amount of work to do. Yes, there is clearly chaos in the social order. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN5PbSvFFAE

republicrat1 and anyone else trying to defend Wilson or insinuate Obama is lying, the points you are making are based on an illegal alien BREAKING THE LAW'S that are in the currently proposed bills!

Undertsand? What the statutes in the proposed laws state is that it would be ILLEGAL for an illegal alien to get in the program and get care, and they would have to commit FRAUD (out right or by ommission) to get it. Understand?

The proposed laws are clear, you are talking about people breaking those laws as if that is 'part' of the proposed bill.

No law present or proposed is immune from this. Cripes just look at the Bush years.

To say these proposals allow for and support care for illegal aliens is LIE! The fact that people might be able to BREAK THESE LAWS has nothing to do with these proposals.

It is truly sad how you have to twist reality to defend your indefensible lies.

Why so many of us in Colorado celebrated the moving on of this man. He was as much loved here as I am sure Michelle Bachman is loved in Minn. As you can tell by my name I was dreaming of sanity coming to our state in the form of candidates who could be respected. Think the year of 2008 was our battle cry for sanity around here. Wouldn't you just know it, my dreams came true.
