Minnesota Public Radio News:

Gov. Tim Pawlenty says he may invoke state sovereignty to keep Minnesota from fully participating in a health care reform plan, if passed by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama.

In a Thursday night conference call hosted by the Republican Governor's Association, Pawlenty was asked whether he would invoke state's rights if a health care bill is passed. He said it's possible.

Well that is attractive. I am glad that Al Franken finally got out of the borders of Minnesota. My gosh, where are all the crackpots coming from in that state. And here he was going to be the star (the only one left) of the GOP for 2012.

Minnesota doesn't want him, he is not running again. He is pandering to the talibangelists for a run at the GOP nomination.

Oh please not even a debatable issue. Pawlenty was another Rethug poseur, touted as a moderate, like McCain and Pitaki & others, who, like them, just spewed pander to the Beck fringe. (Of course the way he dragged his feet on Franken/Coleman was a slight clue) Perhaps Minnesota will fully return to its progressive roots, and vote in Dayton as governor. Experiment over.

"Depending on what the federal government comes out with here, asserting the 10th Amendment may be a viable option," said Pawlenty."

So Pawlenty - a man considered to be a possible 2012 presidential candidate - wants to create a situation in which the states can simply disregard federal law? Pretty bass ackward, I think. But then again I think the Tenthers are rather ignorant of the Constitution as a whole, despite (or perhaps because of) their fascinating new focus on re-interpreting the 10th Amendment.

When the public option is in the books and implemented, does anyone think for one second the people of Minnesota will go with Pawlenty? Not in your healthy, affordable life.

Pawlenty says, "I'm not saying that we're going to do anything unusual or abnormal. I'm just saying we're going to remind the federal government that there's a proper role for them and for the states," said Pawlenty. "We're trying to keep that in focus."

I say that if he doesn't plan on resigning from the Republican Party he will eventually have to eat those words. They don't do anything that isn't unusual or abnormal.

The solution to it all is to consign the GOP to the political dustbins, once and for all.

Pawlenty is a fork-tongued snake. The cute GOP phrase "states' rights" would actually take away our rights to access to quality and affordable healthcare. What the GOP always wants to hide is the fact that our current failing healthcare system is increasingly rationing/denying healthcare to millions of American citizens because the health insurance companies continue to increase costs beyond people's means. The public option is the only viable way to make healthcare accessible and affordable and keep private health insurance companies honest and accountable.

A man whose goal is to DENY HEALTH CARE TO PEOPLE can never be considered for high office.

Pawlenty is a POOR CHOICE

People, until a health care bill is signed, we need to keep up the pressure!

Do not forget the marches tomorrow!!!

http://marchforhealthcare.com/events/

If not now, when? If not us, who?

Kennedy was one of our greatest champions of health care reform. He carried the torch for a long time...and now it is up to us to continue to carry it!

Our elected officials in Congress receive health care mostly paid for by us tax payers, yet many are trying to make it impossible for us to purchase an affordable plan of our own :

While many of us are struggling to afford medical insurance/medical bills.
While Congress people try to stop healthcare reform.
While Congress people accept large contributions from lobbyists to prevent health care reform.

Please sign these petitions - and by all means, spread the word! Thank you!

If the federal goverment shouldn't be mandading healthcare, maybe the seniors in his state shouldn't be getting Medicare.

He says that "a public health care plan would intrude on the private marketplace". Gee, doesn't the "public" healthcare plan for seniors (Medicare) intrude on the private marketplace.

If that's the case, let granny get her own dam_n insurance from the private marketplace and quit relying on the federal goverment for her healthcare.

See how the elderly in his state like that option.

Nobody is forcing people to be on medicare, obama wants to mandate coverage or you get fined. Big difference.

oh yea my brilliant Buddie . . . "forcing Medicare"

Have you ACTUALLY priced a Heath Care POLICY (san Medicare) fro ANYONE over 55????

How many have "op'd out" of Medicare????

You must be the usual homeschooled type that lives at home, under mom's roof and on her health plan and using dad's car insurance coverage

Get a "Health Care" policy quote for a 55 year old male with a history of diabetes in the family and smokes . . . and get back to us.
