Why does he, this 'pimple', think he's so special?
Arrogance is no excuse, nor is ignorance, stupidity, or even the fact that he hails from South Carolina, "Home of the Rude".

President Johnson passed two hallmark pieces of civil rights legislation by twisting arms and slapping backs.

He knew the South would desert him, but he considered the legislation to be more important than votes.

As President Obama has framed healthcare reform as a moral obligation, he should follow President Johnson's example. Losing some seats in Congress pales by comparison to the importance of getting legislation through while we still have the majority.
