John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier were married in Newport, Rhode Island on September 12th, 1953--exactly 56 years ago today. Though they were only a couple for ten years before JFK's 1963 assassination, their union is legendary. Here are photos from their time together.

She was stunning -- and did you notice that she is wearing sleeveless dresses. No trashing back then about "bear arms" on our First Lady.

The bare-arms comments about MO are foolilsh and petty. MO has great arms, and she works hard to keep them looking great.

At her age, she's not going to have too many more years where she is going to be able to go sleevelss without getting that "Grandma-Waves-Bye-Bye" effect (no slam at MO, it's just gravity at work on the more delicate skin under the arms).

Gorgeous photos. I will never forget how Jackie led this country during the days of mourning after JFK was assassinated.

I liked the fact that she refused to change out of that bloody pink suit on the ride back to Washington. She wanted everyone to see the terrible act committed.

'Twas a wonderful era, it was. Jackie was so young as a first lady and Jack was so handsome. How well I remember that time.

I think Jackie was an unusual looking woman, very attractive. And it amazes me what a class act she was as first lady when you remember that she was only 32 yrs old. Amazing.

The Kennedys were such a wonderful First Couple, and IMO their family was the best First Family, ever.

BO and JFK both look/looked incredibly handsome in suits and formal wear. I think BO looks better in the more tailored suits just because he is so lean.

Jackie BKO always looked perfect when seen in public. Whether it was her first trip abroad as FLOTUS, when she absolutely took Europe by storm, when she was dressed in very informal sports wear around their home or on vacation, and certainly when she dressed for formal occasions--she always was stunning, a true lady, and she could have easily held her own in appearance and style when compared to any queen or princess, or first lady, of any other country.

And the kids--oh, they were so darling, and also always dressed impeccably. THeir manners, for their age, were courtly, but they were still kids and wrastled around, etc.

Those were the days....

PLUS aside from this really cumbersome way of doing the slide shows---there are no pics from their trip to Paris! What cold you be thinking? THAT was Jackie at her most dzzling best.

Actually, I think there was one, but I'm not going back through that stupid slide show to find it. You are 100% correct about the slide shows. I like it much better with the dots. With the style of slide shows they have now, I have to keep moving the screen back up so I can click to the next slide.

Jackie was such a hit in Paris. I remember when she spoke words in French, well, that won them over.

Who can forget Jackie in her famous pillbox hats she wore and the white gloves. She was a class act and a wonderful first lady who represented America in a big way.

as a repub, i also thought it was nice when MO wore the black mantilla when greeting the pope as a sign of respect. it reminded me of JKO and i thought it was a classy and respectful thing to do.

Why do people worship these two?

Read "The Dark Side of Camelot" for same unflattering tidbits about these two "stylish" people.

Who is "worshipping" JFK and Jackie BKO? I admire them because the were good for our country, and they made us so proud.

If one wants to, one can find smear books about every First Couple. There are already a couple of nasty ones about before Obama was inaugurated.

I heard something on the John Stewart Show. He had a guy who did a book about the Secret Service (the author used to have that job), and he said that the Bush twins made life very dangerous for themselves and the SS, and the Bushes were not the easiest people to work for.

But he said the Obamas were very concerned about the SS guarding them, and in the beginning repeatedly asked, if they wanted to do something, would it put the SS's lives in danger--the Obamas were more concerned about those guarding them than their own safety.

So as much as I bitch about the Obamas for the way they've handled the presidency, I'm proud of them for considering the safety of their SS detail.

@PoliticalAmazon: and yet they the Obamas believe it is ok to dash out for burgers or some other impromptu stupid thing. If you become President, you do give up certain "freedoms" ordinary people have, like just taking a stroll down the street to grab a burger.
I think Obama's obsessive public appearances put him and the SS at great risk.
So I don't think it matters what Obama actually said; it's what (as always) he does.
And if this SS guy is discussing his former clients, then he is a no-class act who has probably violated his security clearance to make a few bucks.

If people read the books on the Kennedy family , they would then learn the truth.....Camelot was a joke...I remember when Peter Jennings did the special on the dark side of Camelot....very interesting....Some people don't want to know the truth...it easier for people to believe the lies...

You can find negative stories and books about most First Families.

There are already a couple of REAL corkers:

"The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality." Go to amazon.com, search for the book, then click on the inside contents. Unbelievable. I didn't know Glenn Beck was a ghost-writer.

Here's a 150-page white-paper published:

"Urgent: The Obama New World Order Threat?
"The Evidence Provided Below on Obama's Frightening Involvement with the New World Order Agenda is Under a threat of Being Taken Offline. You Must Act Now to Receive it...Fast" THe link to this is at the bottom of the page of the inside info of the previous book.

There are more of this genre.

So should we say "Just read the books about the Obama family and you'll learn the truth about their deep dark secrets"?

Jealous much? Or is it that you think there's anyone somewhere who got rich and or famous by being virtuous? Even the holiest of holy Obamas?

It was such a testament to their great love when Joe Kennedy had to pay Jackie one million dollars to stay with her husband. Too bad there aren't any photos of that we can moon over.

So? Members from both sides of the aisle cheat on their spouses. These pictures are of the Kennedys and are supposed to honor their marriage. Stick to the topic without making it a Democratic or Republican issue.
