The problem of allowing each state to set its own emission requirements is that it places an unfair burden on the automobile manufaturers when they have to build engines and components specifically for this state versus that state. It drives up the cost of the vehicle and pushes people to buy out of state vehicles.

There is no ground worthy of compromise when it comes to the COC. I have to wonder what air they breathe. Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness to them is code for profit at any cost. As a small business owner, I have been solicited to attend meetings and join their orgnaization. I will do neither because my life not only involves making a living, but includes trying to live long enough to enjoy it. There is no room for the latter when it comes to the COC.

The US Chamber of Commerce.... has been anti-business and anti-American for a long time now. They're pretty much the pawns of the ultra-large and multi-national corporations. As a small business owner, I've gotten their propaganda for about 15 years now and it is just amazing how their positions basically punt the small and medium sized businesses in favor of a few large sectors (like the insurance giants).

Its really entertaining/aggravating to read their articles and check the comments -- the comments are nearly always entirely negative and written by small and medium-sized business owners (the ones who actually employ much of America). But the CoC just ignores them and plows ahead with their anti-American policies.
