I am a strong Obama supporter and he had campaigned that he wanted to finished the job in Afghanistan, but it is too late. We lost the opportunity 8 years ago and I afraid we will not get another one like the one we had in 2001. We do not have the support nor the funds at this point.
I believe we need to end deployment in Afghanistan and focus on the homeland. This is one area I did not agree with President Obama. The only way to gain a strong foothold is blow up the mountains in the AfghanistanPakistan region and all mountains in Afghanistan to draw taliban and Bin Laden out of the mountains and into villages. At which point it nows becomes hand to hand combat in civilian areas This would be an environment and human lost. Get out now!!

Murtha isn't a great pol, but he is right on this.
Every time the ethics rules or some investigation starts to catch up with John Murtha, he plays the same old card to rally the left to his side. If he's a bad apple, whether I agree with his latest stance or not (and I do) we shouldn't be blinded by the fact he's got to go.

but but...what how will Obama placate the meat eating right that has NO problem killing American soldiers....This is what they need to feel alive and real...We already know they can't stand middle class Americans and will do anything to make sure they don't have the civil right of health care...I mean he already considers and delivers on all his HR practices by firing staff just to keep them whole...What is the complacent one to do?....If he ends these wars then they can't get jobs and maintain their SOCIALIST lifestyle of government benefits...
Start by sending 30,000 rich-man sons and daughters off to Afghanistan and see just how fast this war comes to a end.

Iraq was all about Shell Oil and this one is political theater for a President wanting to make sure he appears tough on "terrorism" while ignoring it at home...
