Man Had Guns Outside Minneapolis Obama Rally

Packing two pistols, a Rogers man with a Twin Towers tattoo on his arm spent seven hours Saturday among protesters outside Target Center, where President Obama spoke, drawing questions from police and the U.S. Secret Service. Turns out he's just a regular guy who always carries his wallet, keys and gun, was in jail a month ago for assault, and evidently doesn't visit this website for advice on Minnesota Nice. If the pattern holds from similar incidents elsewhere this could undo the international-tourist goodwill from the 2008 Republican National Convention -- when 100 concert-goers were arrested en masse outside the same venue.

Did he violate any laws? Seems to me he had a valid concealed carry permit, was never inside the venue, did not even try to enter the venue, was cleared by the USSS and local LEAs, and never laid eyes on the President.

FYI. The assault charge stems from an incident when he was a security guard and confronted an unruly customer. The charge was apparently not serious enough to revoke his concealed carry permit or prohibit him from owning firearms.
