Setting goals and staying busy doing positive things keeps me sane these days. I'm not completely unemployed, but I work half as much with plenty of free time and very little money. The park is actually my favorite place to go. The big wow of my day is walking down the street to the store to get a can of soda. Exercise is fantastic - have lost 20 pounds. The stress of being far poorer is not fun at all, but unemployment does have its silver lining.

After I became unemployed, I started making daily to-do lists, and I find myself feeling much more balanced because of them. I can't say that I will be as religious about them when (if?) I go back to the old grind, but they do bring a sense of sanity to what can otherwise seem like a very scary, unstructured time in one's life.
