The article said: "In this couple's view, both systems need reform to become hybrids, each learning from the other. Canada needs a private-insurance option for services currently covered only by the government so that wealthier citizens don't have to endure the same long lines as everybody else."

There has been a steady erosion of coverages on the provincial level in Ontario. Some vital services are delisted and coverage for others is reduced. We need to have our single payer system beefed up. The problem with private insurance is that people who need treatment more than someone else get pushed back in lineups because someone with a bigger income is in the way using the same resources.

The majority of U.S. doctors and nurses favor the public option or single payer system. They should know what a waste and how corrupt our current system is, and how escalating costs affect their ability to do their job.
With estimates ranging from a 90% to 130% in escalating costs in the last ten years, they have seen first hand how unsustainable our system is.
