Michelle Obama Gets Lei'd On Thursday (PHOTOS)

First Lady Michelle Obama wore pinstriped pants, flat shoes, and a big smile--despite the drizzle--for the opening of FRESHFARM, a new farmer's market in Washington DC. "I have never seen so many people so excited about fruits and vegetables," she said to wild cheers. Read more about the event here.

Earlier in the day, the first lady wore a sleeveless printed dress to present a Medal of Honor to the late U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti at the White House.

i sure that the first ladies attire is not up for election.... maybe some of you wear what your peers vote on for you.. but most of us left that behind in high school, and then have to deal with it when we have teenage children...woman should be comfortable with themselves and stop dress to impress men and the general public... when all is said and done, nobody really cares....maybe at memorial ceremonies we should concentrate on the people/ deeds that we are honoring instead of what everybody is wearing...... we already have a day that we celebrate what everybody is wearing... it's called easter sunday

As a veteran I am appalled and offended by Michelle's ghastly choice of dresses for the Medal of Honor ceremony to a fallen soldier. A black dress would be much more preferred than that red and black floral number that is more likely to trigger PTSDs in the vets present. Someone needs to tell the woman "NO" as to appropriateness for official ceremonies.

The lady is lovely in whatever she wears. It's not the clothing or her presumed trend-setting style, it's the fact she's always smiling, always enjoying life and so very self-assured.
It's a delight to have someone like her as FLOTUS

I really loved both these outfits. The Farmer's Market one was something anyone could wear and I actually HAVE a basket like that . She looked comfortable and casual. Loved the fit and style of the printed dress. Two outfits full of WIN for the FLOTUS!

When you come to Hawaii and receive a lei, then you get LEI'd. That is what people here call it, so I will think the writer did not mean any disrespect.
The LEI made of Merrygold was pretty by the way, and the local news here mentioned it.

The urban dictionary is hardly an authoritative source for accurate word usage. It is full of slang, usually with a prurient element. So I would have hoped that "lei'd" and its sexual implications would have been above the standards of the HP, esp. with regard to FLOTUS. But, alas, it is not.

I was there at the event. I stood there in the rain and it was worth it. She is as beautiful in person as she is in the pictures. The Farmers Market that she opened is nice. Somewhat pricey, but you are getting the high quality of meat, fruits, and vegetables that some other farmer's markets do not provide. She is having the Farmer's Market here until October 29 and I have to say for all of the HP folks here, when you are in DC come down on Thursday and enjoy.

I think she looks great in both pics. As usual the hair and makeup is perfect. The first outfit and the printed dress look wonderful. I love the blue belt she's wearing with the pinstripe pants too. It's skinnier than most of the belts she usually wears and does a much better job of showing off her waist. She looks fab!

article about Sgt. Jared Monti's life and death and his parents attending the WH
Ceremony to receive the Medal of Honor for their deceased son.

I guess showing fashion photos showing what our First Lady was wearing
