In a nutshell, she's famous for being associated with famous people. (I believe she's the daughter of an R&B musician, was adopted by Lionel (sp?) Richie & his wife, and was best friends (although not forever) with Paris Hilton.) The little girl in her arms is adorable. :o)

that is EXACTLY what I was going to ask.........why is she famous (outside of having a famous dad.) I don't think she looks great, I think that pictures often make people look bigger than they are, because I hear of how some celebrity is too little and I can't see it in a picture....well, they airbrush them, I know.........I don't think she looks BAD, but I don't think she looks great........the baby is precious, looks just like her mom

p.s......I don't think women SHOULD look Great a week after giving birth....we need to honor that women go through a major major body and emotional change in the birth process......

I can't imagine how many women will try to be like Nicole, being SuperWoman and going out a week after birth. When I had my first child many years ago, it took a while to recover. Then 16 mos. later, I had my 2nd child. There's NOTHING WRONG WITH TAKING IT EASY AFTER CHILDBIRTH. Women's bodies have been put through a lot during childbirth and the nine months previous. I pray more women will 'take it easy'.... Post partum, I mean...

As a male of the species, I cannot IMAGINE the ordeal of childbirth.

Safe to say I'd be in bed, on IV-drip pain meds for a month and then waddle with a "wide stance" for quite a while thereafter.

Motherhood clearly agrees with her. Is it my imagination or does that gal get softer looking after becoming a mom? She lost that drug induced, skelital, vacancy she had before meeting this guy. He has done her a world of good. Bravo. As for her going about after giving birth, its good for her mentally as well as physically. After going through 9 months in which your body regects you, and yu feel like the good year blimp, its nice to shrink back to size, go back to wearing normal size clothes and getting out with normal people. It makes you feel like part of life again, not locked up in a house with diapers, crying babies and no sleep. Trust me, that can wear on ya fast especially right afterwards. She needed this and I won't judge her for it. Its nice to see her looking happy, and relaxed, and not skelital and out of control. She turned her life around which took hard work. I am proud of her. Money can't fix everything, this was all her. Bravo Nicole.

It's perfectly natural to get out and about after having a baby unless there are medical problems. Other women do it everyday. Nicole Richie shouldn't be reated like she's a miracle or something! But, what's up with naming her son Sparrow?????????? Hollywood goes totally crazy when they name their children. He will certainly be in good company with Apple, Moses, Zuma and of course his own sister,Harlow!
