Rohrbacher

thenation.com:

The House Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight met today to discuss issues of sovereignty and stability in Iraq ranging from the country's longstanding financial obligation to neighboring Kuwait to its even longer-standing issues with the Kurdish people. But Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) seemed mostly interested in berating the Iraqis for their lack of gratitude

Let's be clear: the Republicans are appeasers, weak on defense, and are toothless in the subtle art of diplomacy. Besides being weak kneed in the way they accuse Democrats of being, they are essentially cowards with no insight into other cultures because they have no insight into our own. When will they get so cojones and stop whining? When will they admit responsibility for 9/11? When will they stop their love of authoritarians and dicatorships?

I think Republicans have a real issue with liberty and democracy: their American ideology blinds them to their destruction of both in this society. What a waste of a party, or former party.

Going by the same theory, then should we be grateful to the terrorists?

Maybe someone should make up lies and destroy his life, then turn around and tell him to be grateful.

What i see on the right they have denial syndrome , they just want to liberate third world country , who happend to be oil rich, a challenge to Israel , and see the weakness in its society , how come they are not running to the hitch wagen to liberate other country , well they dont fit into there plan, and what i would say to this person, I say may you be reward with same ignores, and all the misery that was bestowed on the Iraqis and Afghanistan's on this religious holiday for Muslim and Jewish , and i pray to the Abraham's that we find our voice to treat our self as human being first.

"We went to Iraq to try and free your people and now we're being blamed for sectarian violence," he said. "Don't blame us because that type of bloodlust exists in your society."

Rohrabacher sounds like an arsonist who indignantly denies responsibility for burning down a house by tossing a match on the gasoline he poured because it isn't his fault that the house was built of balsa wood and paper. Rohrabacher could have read in the pages of The Nation BEFORE the invasion articles predicting sectarian violence and an insurgency if we invaded, along with articles pointing out the lack of any credible evidence that Saddam had any WMD. Too bad Bush didn't read The Nation. But then, he wouldn't have understood what he read because two weeks before the invasion, Bush had never heard of Sunnis, Shias and Kurds.

It's also a little much to ask an Iraqi to be grateful to the 4,300 Americans who died in Iraq after a war that cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and drove millions out of their country.

co-sign

Bush wouldn't have gotten it. He just heard there is a region with oil far away, with a bad guy in charge his father couldn't ( IMO wisely wouldn't ) defeat. So he told himself, maybe this time junior can prove he is not totally useless after all.

We won't be staying in Iraq long.
That's why we are building the biggest embassy in the world there.
