In her first televised gig since being unseated from 'American Idol,' Paula Abdul proved Thursday night at the VH1 Divas concert she is still an awesome dancer and delightfully unhinged host.
She kicked off the show with a (lip synched) medley of her vintage hits 'Straight Up,' 'Cold-Hearted Snake' and 'Forever Your Girl' with the help of a digitally-resurrected MC Skat Kat on the screen behind her for 'Opposites Attract.'
"I'm Paula Abdul, and this is not 'American Idol!'" she announced, maybe a tad too triumphantly.
Later on she shared the stage with the even loopier likes of Kathy Griffin and Liza Minelli, donning a series of short, sparkly outfits.
Paula also channeled her 'Idol' replacement Ellen Degeneres for a round of good natured mockery. "Nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig," she said. "And call me! You gotta call me if you have any Simon problems, 'cause you know, I know him best."
