Liberal bloggers are pressuring two Arkansas Democrats, Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Rep. Mike Ross, to back a public health insurance option as part of comprehensive reform. A new ad threatens primaries against the duo if they fall out of line. Ross, a leading Blue Dog, and the conservative Lincoln have both said they oppose offering consumers the choice of a public plan.
The ad cites a survey showing that 81 percent of Arkansas Democrats back a public option. The ad, paid for by FireDogLake's political action committee, is planned to air in Little Rock, the state's biggest media market, and on cable outlets in areas not reached by the capital's stations.
