In the most contentious exchange of President Barack Obama's marathon of five Sunday shows, he said it is "not true" that a requirement for individuals to get health insurance under a key reform plan now being debated amounts to a tax increase.

But he could look it up -- in the bill.

OF COURSE IT'S A TAX. ANY MANDATE THAT IS REQUIRED BY GOVERNMENT AND NOT PAID FOR IS A TAX ON THE PEOPLE. HE EQUATES IT WITH AUTO INSURANCE REGULATED BY STATES, BUT THOSE STATES DO NOT SUBISDIZE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T AFFORD CAR INSURANCE. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR YOURS AND ANYONE ELSE WHO CAN'T AFFORD IT.

Do you understand the people will have been offered tax rebates and subsidies to buy insurance? Or can they make an emergency room in their backyard incase they ever need a Dr so we dont pick their tab?

And is it a tax break for those people whose premiums will go down as a result of the healthcare reform?

I have said from the very beginning that the President is going to have a hard time not raising taxes on EVERYONE to a certain point based on the amount of spending his budget has. BUT, I'm not rich by any means (I make less than 60K a year) but if it means I have to pay an additional $100 a week to help pay for a new program, at least I know the money is going for a good cause.
