The world financial crisis is an opportunity, allowing more creative ideas to come about, Italian designer Donatella Versace said, adding consumers wanted to be stimulated at this time.

Platinum blond Versace, whose gowns are a favorite for celebrities on the red carpet, also said she expected the United States to be the first market to recover from the crisis.

May your wheels be turning overtime, Ms. Versace. She's right about creativity and the more we all get on the bandwagon, the better. It's people like her who will ultimately make what is good for us desirable - sustainably produced products from materials that have low impact and last because of both quality and style - not easily achieved.
Think of the mountains of poorly made poorly designed junk in piles in yard sales, dumps, storage units - her vision, taste and design talent already does the big picture a good turn.

I'm guessing her pieces have very long lives. That's conservation.
