One of the things about the so-called Gang of Six -- the group of Senators to which Max Baucus issued an exclusive invitation to participate in health care negotiations -- is that each one started out the year in a place of seeming electoral invincibility. Baucus, Kent Conrad, Jeff Bingaman, Olympia Snowe, Chuck Grassley and Mike Enzi won re-election with an average of 72 percent of the vote as of their last election, and none had a challenger that came closer than 39 points.

I don't know if Grassley is a product of the public school system in Iowa, but you have to give the system credit for such an individual to rise to the level he has in national politics. He is a poster boy for the Peter Principle.

Aug 27-2009- on C-Span-

Tom Scully- Bush's CMS Administrator stated Medicare Advantage, Part C- is overpaid!

This is what OBAMA wants to CUT!

Back door elimination to Medicare Med Advantage is now unfolding as to why this was infiltrated into Medicare.

Mr. Scully admits that Med Advantage turned out to be tactfully wrong- he would not admit the other failure- the philosophical failure.

Yet they continue to scare the seniors with their 'death panels' rhetoric.

Scully admits politically- no one wants to tell those 10 million seniors on Med Advantage that the benefits that were subsidized by tax dollars to Insurance companies will no longer be given thus they will not get the benefits they thought they were going to get.

GOP will not - will never admit what they set up has failed miserably.

Just like GOP will never admit MED D failed miserably.

Back door elimination to all democratic institutions- that is the C-Street Philosophy.

NO GOP with GUTS!

The Repug's remind me of a dog that chases it's tail; only the dog doesn't affect the Nation as a whole.

Their arguments are not based in logic or facts; they just side with the money changers that line their pockets for their re-election bids.

There are 47 million un-insured that have little voice in this debate. They are working to keep a roof over their heads and feed their families. There are even more people out there that have stagnant wages and the percent of their compensation that is eaten up by employer paid health care insurance grows every year. Every year I see increases in deductables and co-pays. I'm just waiting for the next loophole the insurance companies come up with to limit my coverage while increasing the premiums. The tipping point will come when Americans and American business opens their eyes to how much health care is draining our economy. When that happens some politicians are going to be in a world of hurt.

The founding Fathers intended the government to provide for people:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." - Declaration of Independence

The rights to be secured are life, liberty,and the pursuit of happiness. Those rights are violated by the insurance industry who can deny anyone these rights by using the preexisting clause to sentence them to death.

These guys are in trouble. This is the low point of health care and it seems to be rolling along. Healthcare is going to pass and if they are not on board the train will just roll right over them.

That being said, in order for someone to lose you need someone to win. Progressives need to find opponents for them to beat them in the elections. I'm lucky in that Feingold is my Senator in WI and he is wonderful.

I got a real kick out of watching this fool howl on C-Span last night. He and the rest of the Republican jackasses on the Finance Committee appear to be rehearsing for the next batman movie. Poor Bunning fell asleep after railing about government takeover and socialism. Republicans are nothing but shills for the insurance/drug industry . When the amendment came up offering 86 billion in savings and essentially closing the donut hole for medicare/medicaid seniors, the Republicans collectively had a seizure.

Grassley is awesome! He has steel you know whats! He stands up to weed out fraud and corruption. Obviously "special interest" lobbyist want to attack him. One only has to look at his record and what he has done for consumers to realize that this is just an attack on a pillar of ethics.
