What's The New "K Street"? HuffPost Asked, You Answered

On Monday, LobbyBlog asked readers to submit new nicknames for the lobbying industry after the Washington Post declared that "K Street" is "soooo Clinton-era." Readers obliged with over 100 suggestions (and counting) in the comments section.

LobbyBlog was shocked, shocked! that many of the suggestions seemed to denigrate lobbyists. Most were new street names, even though the whole reason the industry needs a new nickname is that it's outgrown its one street.

So, thanks for Bribery Boulevard, Crooks Corner, Greed Gulch, Huckster Highway, Lobby Lane, Pickur Pocket Place, and Pork Parkway, but let's not declare a winner just yet. (Also thanks for Fleece Street, Palm Crossing, and Hector Sector, and for the strange "Public Buggering Street" and "NEVER FORGET Avenue.")

the word itself has negative connotations but that makes no sense to me.
yes, there are rat mustards out there who do terrible things as lobbyists but

all a lobbyist is, is someone who has a particular cause and tries to educate the public and the people who have the power to make a change, and convince them that it would be in their best interests to do so.

you can lobby for....animal rights....better education....clean air...all sorts of positive causes. You can speak to power on behalf of those who feel or are powerless. The problem is that there are those who lobby other causes that you may not like, and they use tactics that are illegal, immoral, and unethical.

"I hate lobbyists" is a rather ignorant thing to say. If your cause is to get rid of lobbies, then you will need to form a "no-lobby" lobby and try to influence enough lawmakers to change the law.

The fed is playing in re inflating the housing & finance bubble while the public willingly lets it happen (not that we could stop if if we wanted to). We're all too busy getting rich with stocks while the Wall Street crooks resume their treachery knowing they will get bailed out yet again.
