Lanny Davis Wants Everyone To Be Nicer To Each Other

Professional Beltway bile-sack Lanny Davis, in between shilling for Central American coup d'etats and helping Whole Foods CEO John Mackey achieve subject-verb agreement in anti-health care reform op-eds, has found the time for a new hobby: teaching Americans to be nicer to each other!

You see, here's how Davis's thought process goes: a Republican yelled "You lie!" at the president, but also, a millionaire rapper made a millionaire singer upset on a teevee show about millionaires receiving awards. Then, Serena Williams became the first tennis player in the history of the universe to ever get angry at a referee. Also, former President Jimmy Carter voiced concerns about racism, which is exactly the same as carrying a gun to a town hall meeting and painting Hitler mustaches on people. And all of that reminded him of the time that bloggers dared to object to the political chicanery of his shape-shifting friend Joe Lieberman, and that, America, was TOTAL McCarthyism! So, now, Lanny Davis has signed on as a backer of the Civility Project, and America will learn to be nice or he will make you regret it.

The whole thing requires you to take a "civility pledge":

I will be civil in my public discourse and behavior.

I will be respectful of others whether or not I agree with them.

I will stand against incivility when I see it.

Presumably, exceptions will be made for people who want to start bizarre "spittle-filled shouting matches" at meetings of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee.

Jimmy Carter was instrumental in the peace deal between Israel and Egypt. Having sympathy for the plight of Palestinians does not make one anti-Israel, let alone "virulently" so. And real friends should be free to criticize. We, as real friends of Israel, have a duty to let them know when they're wrong. Just as a real friend won't let you go out of the house wearing an unflattering outfit. All of which leads me to my central point: Davis irritates the hell out of me!

The White House can't talk about racism. Bad politics.
The ex-President can. Especially in light of a certain failed ex-Vice President and Secretary of State who refuse to shut-up. I don't think I heard Mr. Davis criticize them.
When I see signs at Bozeman Montana's local 4th of July Mad Tea party refering to a "Skinny necked Nigerian" I am able to translate that.
As for the other folks who may not have been racist that get out there and march with the ones that are, some words of wisdom from my mother.

Lanny Davis was very racist during the 2008 primaries if most people recall. So, I don't think he should be speaking ill of President Carter for calling out what is true.

He does not like Pr. Carter's criticism toward Israel but he supports dictators ... sure right.

Davis espouses the "correct" opinions of the pro-settlement, pro-occupation CORPORATE media in the USA.
