David always wanted to be the best talk show host, and now he is. Of course, he's always been the best I think.
So much for the msm claims that there is Obama fatigue. It is really GOP fear that there will be President Obama support if he is viewed as an everyday guy with good ideas for the Nation. They certainly do not want THAT message to get out to the non-politically engaged who might favor the late night comedy venues over cable news.
Without Leno in the same time slot he should be getting more of the audience.
Letterman's stimulus package...

Am I the only one who finds it strange and objectionable for the President of the United States to sit BELOW a wise-guy talk-show host? Letterman's high perch on that stage is a function of his ego and it sends a signal that ``I am above my guests.'' Obama's media people should have insisted on a level set.

Obama on Letterman Monday night, and what's wrong with his solution:
LETTERMAN: Whenever you invoke GB or Canada, people start to shudder, "Oh it's socialism" -- I'm not a socialist, but it doesn't sound that bad to me.
OBAMA: It doesn't sound bad to Canadians, they're perfectly happy with their system. But each country is different. It's not just the Canadians and the English that have got their own systems, you've got every other advanced nation that provides coverage for all of its folks. Some of them do it through the kind of plan we're proposing, which is we help people buy insurance in the private marketplace. Some folks like GreatBritain, they actually control the entire system. Some folks, like the Canadians, they run it like a 'Medicare-for-all' system, so that government pays but it's still private doctors & hospitals. So there are a whole bunch of different ways of doing it, & what we're saying is that we can find a uniquely American way to accomplish this.
==========
What's so special about Americans in need of affordable quality health care that we need a "uniquely American" system?
I'd like to know which public relations firm came up with that term, that spin of "a uniquely American system", and how much the American taxpayers got charged for it.

What's "uniquely American" (and really "uniquely Republican & DLC-Democrat") that Obama is trying to sell is that the government be controlled by transnational corporations where everything is for sale and for-profit.
That's the real choice we're facing.
And it's where Obama proves himself to be a fraud, selling out the very people who voted for him because they desperately needed a champion to fight for them AGAINST the corporations.
Two things are different: (1) our huge population; and (2) our National aversion to change. With 85% of people covered through employer-subsidized private insurance or existing government programs, there is a relatively small percentage of us who are for completely revamping our entire health delivery system to a very scary "single payer" system. As a Nation, we are health care xenophobes to a great extent. I think the public plan with necessary insurer regulations is widely viewed as an incremental step toward future single payer or Medicare for All. The private insurers are simply too addicted to their huge profits, and will undermine and overcome regulation
Virtually 100% of Americans and Businesses do NOT want employer-subsidized health insurance.
There's nothing "scary" about single payer universal health care, except the rhetoric by people who know better and are out to 'scare' ig.no.rant people who don't know any better.
Medicare is single payer universal health care. It's a brilliant program, beloved by those on it. That's what we're talking about: Medicare for All.
Our president was handed an economic debacle. He needs to laugh to positively vent the enormous pressure he incurs being commander in chief.
Wow, that's great!
Reminds me of this:

O sure he did....
Glad to hear about the ratings. It's nice to know the President can hold his own against Delaney's dance appearance

the article failed to mention that 5.7 million just fell asleep with their tvs on that station
Alittle jealous aren't we??
Well that would certainly explain the Fake News network numbers, but I and millions actually tuned in to watch the President. The guy is genuinely a personality as well as a great leader. It is truly nice to have someone with a brain representing our country. Too bad for you wingdings you have just pinheads who can't string a sentence together that actually makes sense.
PBO is a master of the media - very smooth but also self-deprecating. I hope it translates into some real change for America. This country is in pretty rough shape right now, with a long cold winter ahead, and charming back and forths on talk shows might start to look pretty disconnected. Bush and PBO both seem to think that appearing like they are having a good time in their jobs shows leadership. Sometimes I think grim times call for a grim demeanor.
You might be alone with that 'grim' bit - Life is lousy with stupid people. I have learned laughter, levity help me make it through a day -- it is particularly nice, if I like those who are making me laugh...Pr
evidently no pedophilia jokes about Malia or Sasha that night , huh Dave ?
why, Miss Sarah's bunch are the only ones living that life...oh, wait, she's a bible thumper so she thinks she's exempt!
I watched the entire show. Usually I catch snippets of Letterman here and there. I loved the whole back and forth between President Obama and Dave. Very entertaining and refreshing to listen to two intelligent and quick-witted men.
