Dogs In Crazy Costumes (PHOTOS, POLL)

Man's best friend has endured a lot over time, namely a proclivity for man to dress up said "best friend." In honor of HuffPost's recent Denver site launch we've thrown together a slideshow showing dogs dressed as cowboys and cowgirls. And because it was impossible to resist, we added photos of dogs dressed in additional costumes. Vote on whether you think these outfits are cute or abusive. Dogs and cats are master manipulators. Look at how they have managed to get us to do everything for them. We feed them, pick up after them, groom them, allow them to sleep with us, bury them in pet cemeteries, include them in our family portraits. If we are dressing them in our types of clothing..­.I thinks they probably want us to do that too.

I love to see dogs and cats in costumes. If the animal doesn't mind wearing one, I don't see the harm in it.

What Mike Vic did is abusive. People who go out of their way to put costumes on their pets are usually people who treat their animals better than other people treat their own children.

I think the costumes are a tad silly, but there are so many other things that people do to animals that are genuinely abusive. I can't get upset about a chihuahua in a cowboy suit.

All I know is my two dogs get very excited to put on their costumes for the Halloween trick or treaters..­. They LOVE anything that causes them more attention or kids to laugh. Dogs can have fun too. ABUSIVE?? Then why do they get so excited when I put them on..... On the other hand, my male dog thinks he's being waterboarded when I put flea treatment on him. And there's no way I'm letting them romp in the snow without jackets...­.snow sticks in their hair and you'd have to bath them every time they went out. without them.

This is abuse. Animals that protest and try to remove garmets or props, must not want them on. They have feelings too. They are beings too.

We lived in the Midwest and our Yorkie loved his coats. They kept him warm so he'd go get one & bring it to you if he wanted to go out. The costumes are cute as long as the dogs are bothered or harmed by them. All the dogs in the pics looked pretty content to me.
