I like Firefox. (FF). I used them when Explorer and 99% of the browser market. They seem to be innovators and I prefer the path they are on. Their slow and steady improvements have satisfied my browser needs. I have tried Chrome here and there after people say an upgraded version has vastly improved, buy always migrated back to FF

Microsoft (MS) has a search engine called Bing...I'm not a great fan of it, but it stands to be a great competitor of google once it integrates with Yahoo. If MS can get people to use its browser with its home page, Google stands to lose. Google stands to loose traffic. By trying to get the "Jump" on a "Faster" browser in IE8, Google is trying to pull away those customers before they believe MS will be able to make those changes. That said, the real question is, why is Google supporting FF and Chrome

For years, Microsoft has tried to claim that their higher rate of virus and other malware vulnerability is due merely to a higher rate of use, and therefore being targeted more. Programmers know this is nonsense, that Microsoft's security model is inherently vulnerable. Hopefully a factor of 10 in efficiency at least suggests to users with less technical understanding of the underlying code, just how bad Microsoft's programmers really are.

Security model? I've been in the business for over 30 years and I have never heard anyone, other than Mac fanboys advance a "Microsoft security model" theory as a reason for script kiddies writing code against it.
Moreover, a simple understanding of how these things operate prevents 99 percent of problems from affecting your computer.
Bottom line, any system can be compromised. Apple recently came to terms with that reality with their latest service pack aka Snow Leopard. They included anti malware because their system has been compromised a number of times. Same with their iphone itouch devices. Apple claimed no one could compromise it which threw out the challenge to the programmers. Guess what? Coders targeted and have successfully hacked their code. It's called Jail Breaking for the less informed. Not just the first version but EVERY VERSION has been hacked successfully. And you know why? Apple Ipod's market saturation made it a huge target for hackers. Not because Apple didn't have an interest in security to their conduit to the app store. Its because it's a big target. End of story.

Not surprising, but why use IE when you can just use Chrome? I reluctantly switched, but I've found it to be wonderful. I've used IE, Firefox, Opera, and Safari and I have to say Chrome is my favorite.

Firefox was my favorite until the most recent version. I'll give Chrome a try.
