Ever since Jack Johnson turned "reduce, reuse, recycle" into something you hum on your morning commute, people have been rethinking the notion of trash. At this year's Dwell on Design, the showhouse collaboration between ecofabulous and Reclaimed Space produced a 400 square foot eco-luxe cabin designed using high quality vintage, repurposed and restyled items found on eBay and at local antique and salvage stores. The house sold to T.J Thyne, a star of Bones after an all-star bidding frenzy - a portion of the proceeds benefited Habitat for Humanity LA.

Take a quick tour of the space and then click here for an interview with both ecofabulous founder, Zem Joaquin, and eBay Green Team's Annie Lescroart, as they field some questions from visitors of the showhouse about the innovative project, emerging business and consumer trends surrounding vintage and reclaimed materials and ecofabulous's unique and chic approach to design.

1 / 8 Eco-Luxe Cabin
The pre-fab, A.K.A. re-fab, structure was built by Austin-based company, Reclaimed Space, out of 90% reclaimed materials - much of the wood and metal was 80-100 years old! - and the interiors are totally Ecofabulous (TM)!

Dear Headline Writer:

The order is: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle - you've got the order wrong! YES, it does matter. To make the most impact you first REDUCE. When you can't reduce, you RE-USE. and when you can't re-use, RECYCLE! Recycling comes _last_ on the list, for a reason........

My company recently redesigned its recycling program and added two more "Rs." The new list is:

Rethink, Resist, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This is an interesting and age old way of building, not the newer specialty products, but the recycling
of used building materials of all kinds..................

however unless the laws have been revised or changed, in California, you have to secretly use used materials in building..............

perhaps the times have changed or are changing.

I looked at a property in Mono Co. Ca that had a straw bale shed built on it . I would not have been able to buy it unless the shed was torn down because it was slightly larger than 10'x10' It was attractive and unique, perhaps not swanky enough

I am aware of the earthquake chances all over that state, but there is also the idea that new is the only way to go.
