Harry Reid Becomes GOP Target In Nevada

Wall Street Journal:

Mr. Reid, 69 years old, is facing mounting criticism in his home state and is trailing in the polls against two Republican challengers for his Senate seat: former University of Nevada at Las Vegas basketball star Danny Tarkanian and Nevada Republican Party Chairwoman Sue Lowden. According to an independent Mason-Dixon poll Aug. 23, Mr. Reid lagged behind Mr. Tarkanian by 49% to 38% and 45% to 40% against Ms. Lowden.

Seems like he effectively blocked the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste site from being built in Nevada for the past 20 years.

If you really think it's in Nevada's best interest to vote out the Senate Majority leader as their representative, you are probably one of the unemployed, living in one of those states with the worst health care and voting against health care reform, but voting in favor of your officials taking off for Argentina on your dime.

Although personally, I think the Dems should run a strong primary challenger who can beat Reid and win the election, rather than keeping in a milquetoast Dem who's going to have to battle to stay every election.

Reid is pushing Obamacare when the people are telling Washington they want no part of any government run health plan. Support for Obamacare has dropped to just 41% per the Rasmussen Poll out this morning.

Finally some good news! Harry has done great harm to the Party by showing such lack of leadership. Even with a filibuster proof majority, he can't get one thing done without giving everything away. The Repubs with less Senators, rammed everything they wanted down our throats. He has been such a pathetic jellyfish and on the wrong side of every issue. To all other Dems like Harry (DINOs) I say this: Take notice, you're next!

Although no specific legislation was ever introduced (other than the "fast one" he tried to pull in hiding it in the Budget), there was so little Republican support for the plan that if it had, the same republicans would have filibustered. In his plan, there were no provisions on how the government would fund to loss revenues into the SS fund. Another stupid Bush scam laid to rest. And thank God the "tax cut for the rich" will expire. It was unfunded, and how has that tax cut worked out for you or the economy? Thought so.......

I vote in Nevada and keep and address there. I can't stand Harry Reid but I'll take him over any Republican anytime. The campaigns run in Nevada by the GOP are disgusting. While John Ensign was slandering his opponent during the past campaign he was carrying on his, now very public, affair. The Republican governor can't last in Nevada. The last thing I heard out of him (besides the airing of his extremely dirty family laundry) was that he was cutting 100% of housing for seniors in Nevada. Between the Republicans and the economy, Nevada will soon have its own form of Death Panels, starvation.

I totally agree, Lark. I live in the Las Vegas area, and over the last few years, I have seen southern Nevada go more and more blue. The red staters are becoming more isolated in the northern third of the state. Ensign has cut his own throat politically, and i wouldn't be suprised if that seat turns blue. Along with the Governor.
