I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Mark Green, Democratic politician and president of Air America Radio, is running for NYC Public Advocate, and has a new campaign video out (shot by his son Jonah) that gets... personal.

The satirical video on YouTube is called "Mark Green: Always There For New Yorkers," and he means it literally. The tag-line: "Car break down? Mark Green's got jumper cables." A series of New Yorkers appear before the camera to explain the ways that Green has impacted their lives. "I had a gallery show in Bushwick," explains a young man wearing visor sunglasses, "and no one came except Mark Green. And I think he liked it."

Mark Green is considered a pariah in NYC politics, What many do not understand and know, Is NYC is a majority people of color city, and his political style is not suited for this demographic reality, He comes across as this mild manner persona, But All this is pretense to his character!

Mark Green's political career is a dismal account of divisiveness and infective policies!!

This run for his old job for which he previously held for almost a decade is to stroke his ego at best, and At worst, it is his attempt to clear his damaged name which he ruined in his "Racist" campaign for mayor!

Obviously Mark Green is too busy these days to be NYC Public Advocate.

It's a cute commercial and a cute concept, but it is selling a candidate I will never vote for. If he wins the Democratic nomination in the run off, I still won't vote for him in the general election.

Green and Patterson are two New York Democrats I will never vote for again.

a ra.cebaiting a.hole whose son made a clever viral video. w.t.f? any jerk with a teenager could be "mark green." how quickly we liberals fall for "slick" advertising that speaks to us. I enjoyed the ad, but my subsequent digging clued me into the man's dark history. He's not cool, and he exploited ra.cist fears/ attitudes.

From your link: "Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes later officially cleared Green of wrongdoing."

Maybe you're just working for Green's opponent??

Mark Green never apologized, in fact he continues as if this incident never happened !!

Sad and disturbing!

No accountability !

For all those people who are unfamiliar with Mark Green, Let me give you some background, Mark Green ran for Mayor of NYC a few years ago, during the the democratic primary he was running against a Latino candidate named Fernando Referrer. Fernando was by all accounts in the polls ahead of Mark Green, This was going to be the first Latino Mayor of NYC and the second person of color in the history of NYC.

So what did Mark Green do in the face of this unprecedented challenge?

His campaigned pulled the race card!! Using stereo types of Latino and their Black supporters to create division and fear in white voters, and it worked!

All the things that was done to Obama during the presidential campaign and currently, including all the racist attacks on his Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor was done first by Mark Green.

He would make any Republican proud, That is who Mark Green is!!

In 2004 I went to Ohio from New York to work for Kerry the weekend before the election. There were two buses, paid for by the Kerry campaign, Mark Green was our leader. He got over a hundred people together in two days. Mark and his son were on my bus going out, and they were both hard working, even tempered, and an inspiration to us all. We worked our butts off, and saw first hand how an election can be stolen.
He is up against a lot of dirty politics in NYC, but he is really and truly a good guy.

"ritz"

I guess the racist attacks on President Obama means nothing to you!

This was the exact tactics that was implemented when Mark Green ran for mayor!

No difference at all, he is the expert in dirty divisive politics, don't let his demeanor full you, actions speak louder than words.

In the end his dirty tactics backfired so incest was the Latino community that they voted for Mike Bloomberg for mayor, a Republican, which was preferable to Mark Green the so called "Democratic" candidate, go figure!!

I heard this over and over after the incident with Green. He's really a good guy. I didn't vote for him. I don't think I am on Tuesday although I'm not crazy about his opponent.

LMAO! That was a great, funny and whip smart ad. Mark green already had my vote and he'll get it again in the run off election.

Mark Green seems like a very likable guy.

The kind of guy you want to live next to.

Look, I don't know who Mark Green is, I don't live in NYC, I don't even live in Mark Green's country. But based on that funny clever spot? Mark Green, you got MY vote.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:14 PM on 09/26/2009

yes, but what if he's running against a guy who has a better video. Will you then vote for the other guy?

Mark Green, for those who don't know, was widely accused of engaging in VERY racist negative robo-calling on the eve of his last city wide primary when facing a latino Democrat. Even in his stated policy views, he's NOT progressive by any stretch of the imagination, and personally comes across as a pompous, self aggrandizing rich guy.

See this 2001 article from the Village Voice, subtitled, "Unmasking a Phony White Liberal"

http://www.villagevoice.com/2001-10-16/news/mark-green-you-can-t-hide/http

If he's head of Air-America, it's no wonder that it sucks. If people outside NYC support him cause they think he's progressive, they're being fooled.

I grew up in NYC and although I was too young to vote for Mark Green when he ran for Major, I still supported him and wish he had won. He's got my support in this campaign.
