I have blogged many times on the Washington Times and nothing you could say to me about the mentality that exists there would ever surprise me. But it is just not the Times that is a problem. Anyone out there noticed how extreme right wing even the WSJ has gotten? And all the right wing pundits are the same. All they do is fear monger, mislabel people and call them names (many times vile names). Yet they have no solutions or anything positive to add or any compromise to offer. Watch how many of them rush out to the book stores to buy the trash the main "death panel" advocate herself just wrote - Sarah Palin. The most obvious "airhead" I have ever heard "try to speak". You tell me - what is wrong with our world when so much of our population is fooled by empty words and phrases???

The real death panel exists in the GOP led state of Texas, that TX. futile care law allows a corporate hospital committee to overrule families and pull the plug on granny if they deem anymore treatment to be futile -it was signed into law by gov. bush!

While George W. Bush was gov. of Texas, "The Texas Advance Directives Act (1999), also known as the Texas Futile Care Law, was signed into law. Controversy over some provisions of the law have been ongoing, particularly โ€œSection 166.046, Subsection (e),[1] which allows a health care facility to discontinue life-sustaining treatment against the wishes of the patient or guardian ten days after giving written notice if the continuation of life-sustaining treatment is considered medically inappropriate by the treating medical team."

Who cares what the Washington Times writes or Faux Noise says? They're both liars to the core.

There might be some compassionate doctors writing off unpaid claims to bad debt. From my desk, most are sending them to collections to be hounded for the next 7 years or more. I spend my time trying to get families out of collections. The punishment does not fit the crime of getting ill or injured with no insurance. And, families WITH INSURANCE also go to bad debt for impossibly high copays and deductibles.

The Republicans are now trying to scare seniors into thinking that they will lose their benefits. They should be ashamed at their low moral character but they are not.

What bothers me about the "choice" we might have (if there is no public plan) in the private insurance shopping cart may be just as bad as the choice we have now (for those of us who have insurance). High premiums, high deductibles, high copays, many benefits not available which will make the insurance companies richer and us significantly poorer.

The USA REALLY needs to look at other countries' health plans. We are trying to create something new when there are plenty of working plans to research. I believe it's because we want the insurance companies to continue to make their exhorbitant profits at the expense of people's misery.

The only way to protest high premiums, high co-pays and low coverage is to boycott them.

We could change the game overnight by just cancelling our insurance policies en masse and paying for health care out-of-pocket until this matter is resolved to our satisfaction.

This would take millions of $$$ out of the Insurance Cos. pocket, money they use to bribe ... I mean lobby Congress for more sweatheart deals for themselves.

If we want reform, we'll have to do it ourselves.
Congress is for sure NOT going to do it.

The question is, are we serious enough to lay it on the line to get what we want?

Actually, what's described in the Baucus bill is precisely what I would consider a "death panel." A beaureaucrat in Washington determining that he'll cut the Medicare reimbursement to a doctor if his costs are in the top 10% in the country, independent of results or the underlying health of the patient. This will encourage doctors not to accept patients who require more expensive care or to simply avoid costly life-saving procedures so as not to find themselves being penalized by the government.

This is a "death panel."

Funny that your supposed discourgement exists now with doctors refusing to treat people who cannot pay their bills.

The Demos rejected an ammendment that would prohibit any cuts to Medicare. The Demos rejected an ammendment to make the latest CBO cost estimates public on Obamacare. The Demos rejected an ammendment to have the "final" health bill posted on the internet for 72 hours before any vote is taken. The Demos rejected an ammendment to have the "final" health bill PRINTED before any vote is taken.
^^^ It is obvious the Demos want to ram a bill thru as fast as possible without releasing any of the details to the public. The Rasmussen poll out today show support for Obamacare is down to 41%. For you people that cry that Rasmussen is "right wing",,,here is the link to a Gallup poll which shows Obamacare support is only 39%.

Nice try. The gallup poll is from September 8th. Try using current poll data as there was a huge uptick in support of the public option after Obama's speech to congress.

Just 41% of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. Thatโ€™s down two points from a week ago and the lowest level of support yet measured.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% are opposed to the plan.

Ouch.

The funny thing about polls ... they showed that the majority supported the Iraq War, based on months of l1es by the Bush admin about WMDs and mushr00m clouds. It's so easy to manipulate public opinion, but it's in the end meaningless and unconnected to the truth or the proper course of action.

We are also for logic, which is absent from the article. The intent is obviously to prevent doctors from overcharging patients. It seems reasonable that a national benchmark be put in place. That's pretty much all it said.
