SNL Premiere: Moammar Gadhafi Explains Himself (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/27/09 05:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:10 PM ET

"Saturday Night Live" premiered last night, with host Megan Fox and musical act U2. Despite and opening night glitch or two it went smoothly. The 35th season started off with a sketch mocking Moammar Gadhafi for his crazed and rambling UN speech, which was supposed to last 15 minutes but went on for an hour and a half.

Qaddafi should say: I'm more intelligent that Sarah Palin.

The problem is that somebody at SNL things Fred Armisen is funny and he's not.

And yet they insist on having him do these major impressions....Obama, Qaddafi....and they fall flat.

Once again, it's time for some new (actually funny) blood on SNL...or better yet maybe it's time to hang it up and call it a day.

Thank god for DVR fast forward. This was SO unfunny and drawn out. Bring on Kristen Wiig.

I thought it was funnier when Bill Mahr said that Moammar Gadhafi was the middle east's own Glenn Beck!

SNL is in its 35th year. That is longer than many HP commenters have been alive. There is a reason for the longevity. More often than not, the show is brilliant, and the Ghaddafi sketch is no exception. Everything from the costume to the interpreter's phrasing to the mockup background is spot-on. I love the show and wish I weren't too old and creaky to stay up late & watch...

Good show for recording, then watch later and ff thru the unfunny stuff, it's how I watched Mad TV before it went off the air.

Try BitTorrent. Someone else records it, you can watch it on your computer, and you don't have to spring for a TiVo!

Actually there is usually a lot of funny things on SNL. YEARS!?!?!? The whole will ferrel years were fall out of a chair hysterical.

The 70's weren't hysterical in their entirety.... a lot of busted jokes and lame bits.

A blown opportunity, this could have been much funnier.

As usual tedious and not that funny. SNL needs to be euthanized.

Oh, I so miss Tina Fey and her impression of Sarah Palin. She was so spot on. This was just ok.

Maybe if we're all very very good, she will come back and do Bachmann.

I stopped watching after 10 minutes.

The new opening credits were telling. Whereas in last year's credits everybody seemed to have fun, now it looks like they all have a "sigh, here we go again" expression on their face.

The intro speech was absolutely lame, and I couldn't wait for it to end. Megan Fox had nothing to offer but her aesthetics and the first skit, on the plane, absolutely failed to make me smile. Awful. Not being even slightly interested in Bono and co, I went back to watching dvd at the first commercial.

I should have quit after 10 min... but went through to SNL news before i realized little was funny.

The real Moammar had more comedy than the mock Moammar.
