The only ones that rated high on my list were the baby elephant seal and the shaggy dog. The rest i would hardly describe as cute, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder..
The toad has a mutant-like situation going on...looks like it has an extra appendage. The banana slug DOES look like the male organ. Squid, bats, hyenas and hairless cats? Nope, sorry, no warm fuzzy feeling over here.
I don't know if I am I having some sort of Freudian moment or what but, does the Banana Slug look like (to use cheap romantic novel usage) a giant cudgel of love grissel? A blood engorged piston of man-meat?
Do you guys get my drift?
Ya know wha' I mean?
You sure?
You're right!! Darn spray-on tan!!
Does it look like male genitalia? Yes. Actually I was expecting mention of this in the description as well.
Does the toad have a leg growing off of its stomach? Is this photo taken from a science article talking about the effects of pollution on frog populations? Or am I just seeing things?
I see it, too. I was staring at it for some time. Eeewww!
Yes, I think it does have an extra limb. Poor thing! This is a much better photo of a toad:

You're talking about Santa Cruz, and they are/were the mascot for UC Santa Cruz. They are, as NoCalDrummer says, quite the garden pests, but they are fascinating creatures to watch. I used to live up in the mountains above Santa Cruz, and all day long the dogs in the neighborhood would crap all over the roads with the most disturbing abandon. At twilight the slugs would come crawling out of the woods and party on the droppings - in the morning there was nary a plop to be seen. Also, if you look closely at them they have populations of teeny little bugs scurrying all over their bodies. From an artistic point of view they are rather beautiful. Just don't step on one.
I'm sorry, but the banana slug, which can get to be the actual size of a banana has destroyed many of my (and others') vegetable plants during our rainy season. We used to have "Slugfest" here in our town, until some animal rights advocates thought "slug races", etc. were "demeaning" and "cruel" to them. Sorry, they're garden pests - they never had it so good before or after.
Don't look directly into the elephant seal's eyes! They're Evil. Pure Evil!
We have a yellow-footed tortoise named 'Lucho' who acts like a dog. Whenever he sees someone, he comes over..."wh

I love my goldfish, Glub. He's there when I need him, never craps on the carpet, and he's learned how to avoid the barbless hook.
The bat has an unfair advantage - none of the rest have been allowed to use props.
Also, I cannot believe the person who captioned the photos passed on the comedic opportunity that is the banana slug!
