Seriously? There wouldn't be a Pirates franchise without Depp. They should already have gotten the hint to stop at 3... Now they're just burying themselves deeper.

If Disney does something as nonsensical as that, they can easily kiss away half of what they would have made with Depp and ruin their own credibility in the process. The last thing we need is Disney making crummy POTC knockoffs like they've done with so many of their other classics.

If Pirates can't carry on beyond #4 with Depp, it'll be time to put the franchise to bed.

Crummy POTC knockoffs? YOu mean like the second and third films? The first was a blast, and the next two got progessively darker, less fun, and pointless. The last movie was downright depressing. Even my kids didn't like them.

Seems some aren't able to read. They are only preparing to replace him if he doesn't agree to come back for a 5th and 6th film. Not to simply replace him to replace him. They'd rather he stay on and play the character but are preparing if he doesn't want to as they want to keep the franchise alive as it makes a LOT of money.

If Disney has any sense, they'll sign Zac Efron or Robert Pattinson to keep the franchise alive. Watch, they'll come up with Sparrow's long lost son or give Bloom or Knightly's characters a long lost brother. Bloom and Knightly can't carry the movie alone. Maybe they'll move forward in time and their kid will be the new lead.

XXX sequel with no vin diesel... and these are smaller less significant as in boxoffice... sounds like a trial balloon sent up by disney to see the reaction or an attempt to scare depp into thinking he might lose out on a monster paycheck... like what fox tried to do recently with the cast of futurama

Sorry, but if Keira/Bloom were at the helm of these movies, they would be str8 to DVD, Depp is among top5 most talented male actors currently in Hollywood, and a bonified superstar. It would be like doing Seinfeld without George/Ela­ine/Kramer and even Seinfeld, even suggesting an idea such as this ridiculous.
