The "Should Obama be Killed Poll" is unacceptable, however, I would like to know where the public, media and political outcry is when such polls were are circulated about George W. Bush. The media and law enforcement need to refocus their attention on fair, unbiased, truth in reporting instead of worshipping Obama.

Calling for the killing of anyone is very irresponsible and uncalled for. PERIOD. I do not feel that the first amendment protects conspiracy to commit murder now, or ever. Nor does the first amendment protect the act of murder to make a political point. Voting is how we bring forth our political agenda in a democracy.

Isn't it interesting that, other than such notable historical exceptions such as the famous abolitionist, John Brown, the Black Panther Party of the 1906s, and the Earth Liberation Front, it is the political RIGHT, and not the left, which is most commonly linked to ideologically motivated violence/aggression? (At least, this is a claim one can make about the U.S.; but there's a considerable amount of evidence it may hold true for a majority of other nations/regions.) Our ever-flustered conservative/traditionalist friends will vociferously dispute this, of course, but there's no doubt it's worthy of considerably more study.

Does it mean that only conservatives/traditionalists perform acts of violence/terror? Certainly not. But there's certainly enough evidence to suggest a distinct correlation between conservative/traditionalist American worldviews and a greater susceptibility to violence/aggression. Examples abound: the American militia movement (e.g., Oklahoma City bombing) ... modern white supremacists/neo-Nazis... Atlanta 1996 Olympics bombing ... the Ku Klux Klan, responsible for the deaths of thousands of men, women and children ... violence against abortion providers, responsible for the lives of 8 at least people ... 8,000-10,000 hate crimes per year, most of them against blacks, hispanics, LGBTs, etc...

Oswald was "on the right"?
Sirhan Sirhan was "on the right"?

By the way, Bill Ayers dedicated his book Prairie Fire to Siran Siran (and has publically called Sirhan a hero)

Lorianne:

I'd be KEENLY interested to find out how you justify characterizing Sirhan Sirhan as a liberal. Sirhan resembles a conservative/traditionalist far MORE than he resembles a progressive/liberal. He's clearly an Arab nationalist -- with the same kind of excessive and over-simplistic emotional attachments to in-group notions of race/ethnicity, nationhood, & religion so common among conservatives/traditionalists.

What is this, a secret poll to see how many wingnuts there are in the U.S?

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:30 AM on 10/02/2009

This fits in well with the republican mob mentality- lets just lie and promote untruths and if we say it enough people will believe it...and by the way it great for ratings. The publishing of a poll as vile as this one, puts some unstable person, who is probably reading The Catcher in the Rye right at this moment, to take up a gun and actually plot to shot the president. Our fore fathers would be proud. Strangely, you know that the guy who sponsored this poll will be publicly chastised by the GOP and then invited to fund raiser the next week. I can see the GOP promotions...Joe the Pollster.

This is exactly what you get after years of stupidity form the far left and right. I"ll impeach you, I'll kill you, Your the anti-crist, you want to rule the world... blah blah blah. This country is going under fast and both partie's wingnuts are to blame. Move back to the middle and toward common sense.

Creating a poll is NOT "making a threat" against the President".
Thre is nothing illegal about making the poll or even in simply selecting "yes" as a response.
Thinking the President should be killed, is not a crime.
As long as you don't make a threat against him, or incite others to do so, where is the crime?
There is no crime against thoughts or beliefts as long as they are not carried out or threatened to be carried out This is much ado about nothing more than bad taste in creating polls, but its not the first.

Just for grins, buy yourself an airplane ticket and while you're in the security line, turn to the person next to you and say "I'm taking a poll. Do you think that this airplane should be blown up."

When you are finally released from federal custody, please do let us know how it all went. Especially with regards to what'll surely be known as the "it was just in bad taste" defense.

For those people who are attempting to use this as a chance to blame conservitive media are being pretty ignorant. I dont see how asking a question like that is a big deal ... freedom of speech right? questions dont kill people if someone can find me a killer question id love to see it.
Other then that I think its kinda funny someone took a little time out of their day to make it and so many people freaked out over nothing.
