'The Hills' Salaries Exposed: $90-125k Per Episode

The Hills

The Daily Beast:

Cavallari is being paid $90,000 an episode, which is almost as much as Conrad was making: $125,000 an episode (or $2.5 million a year), according to a person with knowledge of the show's contracts. Conrad's deal stipulated that no other star's salary could match hers while she was on The Hills, but those of supporting cast members Audrina Patridge, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth, and Montag come close: $100,000 a show. As for Pratt, his rate is a slightly less at $65,000 per show, because he only joined as a regular in 2008. (In comparison, the stars of The Real Housewives series receive a reported $30,000 a show.) In the case of Brody Jenner, Conrad's BFFWB (Best Friend Forever With Benefits), he takes in $45,000.

This show has become so ridiculous that it's almost mundane. Especially compared to the firewords, love affairs, and backstabbing going on in Washington.

This is, in a nutshell, what is wrong with our society. I have nothing against people making money. I don't particularly think it is evil to pay exorbitant salaries to musicians, actors, or sports figures. But that much money to this group of talent-less bozos? What does that say about our culture? Why does anyone think that they are worth watching? Sincerely. I want to know.

it's nothing. after all, they're not professional actors, right?

gee, maybe i should dye my red hair blonde, overdress and have a camera crew follow me up and down Robertson while I shop all day long in 8-inch $600 Louboutins.

as a journalist, they're on my "never write about these overpaid losers" list. (minus this comment!)

Ahhh Hell to the no! this is ridiculous! I would normally agree that anything related to these people is "non-news worthy" HOWEVER all this money wasted on these non-talented over-privileged brats is making me sick to my stomach. If there are people in this country who are living in the streets then there is NO EXCUSE for just throwing all this money away on people who we won't even remember in 10 years!

120K per episode is PEANUTS !!

Friends cast was making (each one of them, the six of them) 1 million/episode the last couple of seasons (for sure, but could be more seasons for all I know).

whats the big deal? sports stars make money, movie stars make money. Your beloved Michael Moore is going to cash out big time for his upcoming movie. are you going to rant against that too?

and who says cancer scientist dont make money? find out a cure, sell the patent or form a company whatever. take it public. cash out your stock options and you will be richer than top 2 hollywood stars combined. heck you could be richer than Oprah !!

Peanuts? PEANUTS?? That's more than about 90% of Americans make for a YEAR! Take a zero off the end and their still overpaid, as are sports stars.

The only way to even the field is to tax the snot out of them. Take the highest tax rate back up to 50% for anything over $3 million a year.

As if we need more proof that this is one messed up country. Yeah sure, firemen and police officers are making much less, soldiars make squat, teachers make about 1/3rd. Yet these "actors" make that much money? no wonder we had 8 yrs of george bush and continue to have zero progress on anything relating to real PEOPLE.
11:43 PM on 09/28/2009
don't make this into something about george bush. so unnecessary.

I have never watched that show and don't know much about it.

However, I will never blame anybody for making as much as they can, especially in show business

Who knows? Maybe it's the last time those kids will be on a hit show in their careers?

Remember the supporting cast of Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, the Cosbys, Magnum P.I, Miami Vice ? They were hot back then and mostly forgotten today.
